Mary Nightingale in the studio, on the promo for the Evening News. So I assume Mark Austin is live at Heathrow. Will it be similar for News at Ten? E.g. Mark at Heathrow with Julie Etchingham in the studio.
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but does anyone else think it odd that after all the publicity surrounding News at Ten's relaunch that the ITV page would come up 6th on Google, beaten by the BBC, guardian and wikipedia!
Admittedly this may change over time, but as both a web designer and someone who produces content for the internet regularly, everyone in the business knows how important that is! If you're going to have a webpage for News at Ten, at least make sure it (or something ITV related) comes up on Google!

Anyway back to the program itself, I really like the feel to the bulliten. The dark affect really helps make it stand out from competitors, and giving the FTSE/£ updates is really useful to me. However editorially I have to stick with the BBC - it really is like NaT is ITV's solution to Newsnight: quickly skipping over the news to tell you about their latest investigation. While that's good in many respects, it does mean it's almost more of a documentary than a news bulliten. That's why the BBC's Ten is definately my 'preffered' bulliten, because the majority of it contains news!
Another point (and sorry to re-post so soon but my last post was pretty big!) but what is ITV's obsession with NaT's name changing in different media? Here's some examples of what I mean...
Google Ads -> The News at Ten
Sky EPG -> News at Ten and weather
UTV (apparently) -> World News at Ten
surely if you're going to go to the hassle and expense of a marketing campaign, at least make it consistent! While it does still get the message across (ITV1 - 10pm) it defeats the object of a brand name!
Not really - the ITV News website is crap and hasn't got anywhere near the reputation of the BBC, and really apart from a few people here and at ITN, the return of News at Ten has hardly captured the publics imagination.
And most discussion of News at Ten's return has been away from the ITV website at places like MediaGuardian - and here in fact.
But the BBC's offering is much better (bar the presentation). The old style over substance problem for NaT.
You have to see it like this, whatever 30 minute programme ITV1 had at 10.00pm usually only got a rating like this, if not lower, and the News At 10:30 rarely got above 2 Million viewers. Just remember on Wednesday it didn't have a strong lead in, it might pick up again when a big event happens or whenever there is a strong lead in and for now that could only be IACGMOOH or UEFA Champions League whenever that returns.
It just makes more commerical sense for ITV to have the News back at 10.00pm, even if they do get beat by the BBC pratically every night.
Even Fiona Phillips is a qualified journalist. Good journalism doesn't necessarily equal a good presenter.
Fiona Philips is actually a very talented presenter. Her job is to present light-weight breakfast telly on ITV, which she does very well. It's not supposed to be Newsnight...
