No business from Julie tonight, seems to have been take up by a few more sports stories.

Well I only got a chance to watch News at Ten for the first time. I think it is certainly a strong programme, without all the fluff which has plagued ITV News in recent years. My only gripe is that the programme needs to be a little bit longer, ie. not finishing until around about 2228 or thereabouts. They could easily have a couple more packages in there.

Two pages of credits as well, perhaps ITN bosses are looking on here for reaction?

All they need to do is banish the ITV National Weather until after the Regional News to keep that Sheila's Wheels sponsorship at a safe distance away from News at Ten

Ideally, they should have in my opinion
10.00 News at Ten (including a 90 second ad break)
10.25 Regional News (no weather)
10.31 And Finally
10.33 ITV National Weather
10.34 Regional Weather
10.35 Adverts
10.39 Next Programme

You're joking, right?

News at Ten slumped to 2.6m viewers last night, compared with 4.7m for the BBC's Ten O'Clock News:

Further, an amazing story in which NaT managed to give an exclusive to Newsnight on Tuesday after failing to realise the most important part of their interview with Gordon Brown- quite embarrassing for ITN:

Not sure but it just goes to show how this whole 'has to be a qualified journalist' thing is completely fictitious - Moiras so much better than the likes of Kaplinsky (though that Sian Williams Laughing)

Moira may not be a "trained journalist" in the sense that she, say, studied Journalism at university etc prior to joining the BBC... but would it not be the case that once with the BBC, she would learn journalistic skills as part of her employment with them?

If so, then that would surely still amount to Moira being (at least partially) "trained", albeit that all such training was done "on the job" rather than through formal study?

Alternatively, maybe Moira was taught no such skills throughout her years of BBC employment, in which case she is indeed "just a presenter".

I don't know one way or the other, I'm merely speculating as to possibilities.

Can anybody here confirm which of the above would be most true in Moira's case?

Well we're completely off-topic but you don't present the news for a couple of years without having a good grasp of how the world works - and as much as I might not rate her as a newsreader, IMO her years of experience count for much more than a 3 year degree course.

Should get higher viewing figures tonight with today's incident at Heathrow. Wonder will Julie be sent to the airport, although personally that would be pointless.

Mary Nightingale in the studio, on the promo for the Evening News. So I assume Mark Austin is live at Heathrow. Will it be similar for News at Ten? E.g. Mark at Heathrow with Julie Etchingham in the studio.
