Problem is though, should we be expecting him to switch his style or should it just be single-headered?

Julie's not doing anything wrong, but seems like a spare part so far.

In hindsight, it might have been better single-headed. They could still have poached Julie but she could have alternated with Trevor. Then when Trevor decides he's had enough (whenever that may be) Mark Austin could have taken his place. But, it is still early days yet so there's time for improvement.

Thing is, even with News Knight with an Audience and a panel, he wasn't very chatty then, and that was an informal show. I think it is unlilkely that his style will change, but in respect to him, if Julie was to initiate the conversation - he wouldn't blatantly ignore her would he?

That's a good point, Connor, and something I was going to mention myself. I think he may have co-presented News at Ten before the 1992 relaunch but certainly for the past 16 years he's worked alone:

1992-1999 - News at Ten
1999-2001 - Evening News
2001-2004 - News at Ten
2004-2005 - News at 10.30

He presented all of those on his own. So, after such a long break from having a co-presenter and a two year break from newsreading altogether I think he isn't actually doing too badly. We may be being a tad unfair towards him.

I certainly don't remember him ever co-hosting a show - only time he would have done in recent years is due to breaking news, so perhaps Sept 11th for an hour or so.

He certainly though presented his main coverage that night alone from 11pm, but I've vague recollections of him joining Kirsty Young for an hour or on the Evening News or something earlier in the day.

[As I said before, Sir Trevor did a fantastic job considering he hasn't 'done it' in a long time. Not only are there mulitudes of cameras now but there is an invisible screen to look at!

The same number of cameras and invisible screens as there was before, no doubt.

After seeing the astons again I think they look cheap, a boring diagonal wipe and fade out as well as them being plain navy. It is hard to see details on a 21'' 4:3 television!

Get a decent telly.

I watched a recorded NAT tonight, and again I was impressed with the presentation. Very slick and efficient (apart from the sign-off from a down-the-line report) but it's early days.

I'm surprised at the viewing figures for Monday, I expected more BBC viewers to have "turned" just for curiosity. Perhaps there are more PVRs out there than the "stat-gatherers" think!

Anyhoo, if ITN/ITV stick with it I'm sure we will have a nice balanced choice at 10pm every night.

He certainly co-presented News at Ten on occasions prior to 1992. I can remember seeing pictures on some internet site of him presenting alongside Alastair Burnet.
