Now that's bad really they showed the ITV 1 logo with white writing on a Central Soccer Night screen.

Very short break after the regional news.

Only 1 advert I think?

Suprised at Tyne Tees having a correspondent in the newsroom live, it looked a little bit stupid, her sitting infront of a PC monitor with the latest details on the story.

They did this last week with the Allardyce story. Still, always nice to see the newsroom with ITV Tyne Tees logos aplenty!

It's tricky. Trevor is an icon and while I've traditionally not been a massive fun, he does seem back to his best and reinvigorated with the return of the programme. But he is quite wooden, and I can't imagine him having a jokey, bantery partnership with any presenter.

I'd take a guess and say the reason Trev doesn't really banter with his co-presenter is because it is probably the first time he has co-presented a news programme, if memory serves.

Correct me if I am wrong, by all means. Laughing

But my point is, if he is a creature of habit, it might take him a while to become more of a Socialite with Julie on air.

I don't understand the point of them promoting an interview with Gordon Brown when the actual segments lasted such a short time. They've shown more on Newsnight!

I was also rather concerned that TMcD wasn't so much asking questions in the second one as seemingly offering advice.

I'm presuming he actually spent longer at No10 than the average Estate Agent doing a valuation? Confused

What was also odd was that Sir Trev didn't seem to be paying attention to what Gordon Brown was saying. He was constantly looking in every other direction except his Laughing

No, I'm sure I've seen clips with Trevor presenting alongside Sandy Gall back in the day. Although maybe not together in shot - if that's what you mean.

That's a good point, Connor, and something I was going to mention myself. I think he may have co-presented News at Ten before the 1992 relaunch but certainly for the past 16 years he's worked alone:

1992-1999 - News at Ten
1999-2001 - Evening News
2001-2004 - News at Ten
2004-2005 - News at 10.30

He presented all of those on his own. So, after such a long break from having a co-presenter and a two year break from newsreading altogether I think he isn't actually doing too badly. We may be being a tad unfair towards him.

I must admit that I'm undecided on Julie Etchingham. I vaguely remember her from BBC Breakfast News and Newsround but because I don't watch Sky News at all, I haven't seen her present for a long time. To those members who watch Sky News, has she been on top form the last two nights? If not, then it may just be nerves and/or getting used to ITN, in which case she'll most likely improve with time. I would, however, like to see Mary Nightingale present NAT at some point.

Problem is though, should we be expecting him to switch his style or should it just be single-headered?

Julie's not doing anything wrong, but seems like a spare part so far.
