As for combining old and new - looked new, felt old I think is the best way to sum it up.

Certainly having it co-hosted will possibly be a key weapon in making it more accessible in the head to head with Huw Edwards, but the bulletin does feel more dated for it.

Enjoyed it! Trev did seem to be looking at the wrong camera at the end, or was that just me?

Was a really good new start, I did notice too that Trevor had to look at his lines the wrong way to the camera I think.

This programme should become strong again.

It certainly felt like a really polished bulletin, the reports seemed longer with a bit more depth to them, and no standing up which was good.

It will be interesting to see a "normal" bulletin without all these set-piece reports though. It won't get the better of BBC News, the advert break to the regional news will see to that.

Oh, and Julie is a really polished performer, the best newsreader at ITV News perhaps ?

Trevor needs a flashing tally light. How many times did he address the wrong camera before he was corrected?

Set is great. Loved the fact there were no pointless two-ways.

Julie was good. Very engaging despite the stoic delivery.

Like that sting!

They can't have a break in the bulletin at technically it's 25 minutes long (as the regional news isn't part of the programme).

Technically it's a commercial 30 minutes, meaning they could have an ad break if they wanted to

The ad break before the regional news made up for it though, a bit too long for my liking

That was good! but tonight is not the night to judge it by

I would even say it's not worth judging the rest of the week, but give it a couple of weeks to bed in and settle down, and then see how it's working.

I personally thought it had a good flow and had the right standard or journalism and content. although it was noted that they had most of the big hitters and ITN old hands doing the reports!

I actually think it's refreshing having a different feel to the buletins, there really is no need to have them all looking the same! and with the theatre of news and the new virtual floor it's very easy to change! so Go on ITV make a couple of changes to the other news programmes, and give them all a different feel to reflect their editorial lines!

Blimey, what a poor show. Dull, boring and unimaginitive. WHY two presenters?! No need at all. Etchingham adds nothing to the program. The pace was slow, the reporting STILL intellectually shabby and WHY do they use those overpriced graphics for the intro which make a news program look like some sort of budget sci-fi made-for-tv fantasy?

I have to say that I will be back to the BBC Ten o'Clock News tomorrow myself. I was expecting more reports and a quirky and finally. I can only assume that it was due to the big reports on Khan and Antartica. The main thing for me though was it seemed to pass very quickly. The titles were not that bad and the graphics are professional.

However, I disagree about Julie. I think she will become the face of News and Ten and I think the two presenter set up would have worked better if Alistair, John Suchet (I can dream) or Mark was with her. Trevor is used to being the one and only anchor and comes across rather awkward.

And any good work is undone by the ITN endcap - not to mention the bloody Sheila's Wheels thing after each and every news bulletin!

"Any good work" - good grief Brekkie can you not admit for once ITV did something good?

That was outstanding - let's see if they keep the momentum up!

Outstanding? All they have done is copied what they used to do 10-15 years ago.

I noticed it was a more personal approach to news and you felt at home with the news bulletin. Once it has settled in I think this should be great.

New presenter Julie was really knowing what she was doing and Trevor well he will get back into it I hope!

BREAKING NEWS from us all tonight, trying to get in first with how they are doing the programme.

Trevor just said 'And finally'!!!

It was all so predictable. Like watching a bulletin from 15 years ago right down to the "And Finally" story.

Yes it was. That is exactly what i want .Safe familar trustworthy
ITN News At Ten. I must admit when i heard it was coming back i did think it was a mistake but as soon as the titles rolled it was fantastic PLEASE ITV leave it alone now .
