I don't know why people are so disappointed that the Lunchtime and Evening bulletins haven't changed. As I said back on page 38 of this thread, there were never any plans to do so. They removed the walkway before Christmas to allow more flexibility for News at Ten and they always planned to key in the fake walkway for the other bulletins - there was nothing temporary about it.

Personally, I'm glad there haven't been any changes to the other bulletins. They've only had the current look for two years and it has been heavily tweaked since then. People seem to expect rebrands every five minutes these days. May I remind you that the Six O'Clock News looked the same for 9 years at one point and even the last News at Ten kept the same look for 7 years. The current look of ITV News is definitely not outdated yet.

Is there any need to have a keyed walkway though? No. They could just have the presenters standing on the floor.

The walkway looks horribly bodged. Like a poor mock.

To us, yes. But then, we're not the average viewers by any stretch of the imagination. I suspect the vast majority of people will not have even realised it is virtual. In fact, many people think everything they see onscreen is real...

Is it like the actual walkway was or is it just a round platform around the screen?

Changing tack Rob, as you seem to be in the know, in the Mirror today it says that Mark will do the weekend bulletins in addition to Friday's with Julie. Does this mean he's standing down from the Evening News? I thought this was unlikely.

So that means the Mirror must have got this arse about face? They also seemed to think Julie started presenting sky news today in 2005.

I apologise if this has been mentioned before.

I haven't heard anything about that, I'm afraid. Going on some of the glaring inaccuracies in recent articles I'd take anything you read in the media with a huge pinch of salt. Time and time again they've got things wrong. The people to listen to are the insiders who post on here - they're the ones in the know.

I just heard that the music in the stuff we've seen isn't the final version - can anyone confirm?

I agree. I think someone did one of those remakes of the set a while back in the mocks forum, and the walkway looked more realistic and that was probably done on publisher.

I think the 'new' walkway is hideous. I don't see the problem with just having whoever stood on the floor. Julie is going to be stood on the floor with no fake walkway so I don't see why that can't branch out into the other bulletins. Most of the time, they don't show feet or the floor anyway.

The first composition was done months ago and it has been re-done several times since then. Even as late as last week they were tweaking it, apparently. Those promos must have been made before the music was finalised so I would expect something at least slightly different tonight.

But I prefer to hear my Boom-booms at six o'clock. Or probably during the Basil Brush Show .
