Rather amusing how that newspaper front page didn't feature in the ITV News round-up tonight!

I thought itv would have been all up for abit of shameless self-publicity. I've got them all wrong.

Some idiot here posted the other day that News at Ten would return with Trevor McDonald joined by Sky's Julie Etchingham - and we treated it with the pinch of salt it deserved.
But it's true, apparantly!

Pathetic move IMO - it shouldn't have been resurrected the first time, and certainly shouldn't be now. And why bring back Trevor to present it? I can't see Mark Austin being too happy about that - or Mary about Julie for that matter. It's not as if ITV haven't got enough female presenters.
Although ITV News has gone downhill again of late, the 10.30pm bulletin had estabhlished itself better than the previous version of News at Ten and better than the Nightly News.
Let's face it - the only reason it's back is to save ITV a bit of cash in trying to fill the 10pm slot.

Well just goes to show you can't dismiss all rumours brekkie !

A move back in the right direction for the N@10 and who knows maybe for tv news on ITV . I 'd like to see a more serious news with the fluff kept in the last five minutes. A news for adults , perhaps even intelligent adults ?

Amazed like others to see Sir TMc back but it's quite a pull for a relaunch. Julie Etchingham , this is a chance for her to become a better news presenter after a long stretch on Sky . I can see her being a national news favourite a la Anna Ford , Julia Sommerville & Carol Barnes .

Well it's all a bit up in the air right now, and hasn't been officially confirmed by ITV.

We still don't know if it's anchored at 10pm or if it will move; if Trevor and Julie will double head it nightly; or even if it's true.

Why do the Mirror say the bongs are returning, they are there at present aren't they?

Maybe its a return to traditional dramatic news theme. I hope to god so.

Does a 20 minute bulletin require 2 presenters? Obviously they are setting it up so Julie takes over full time. Mark Austin never really did it for me anyway.

I've never heard such a ridiculous idea. I really thought Michael Grade had abit more about him than this. The 10pm slot is now BBC One's, and they have established themselves with a decent programme which nicely leads into Newsnight on BBC Two for those wanting more in-depth reports.

Moving the news back half an hour, directly against BBC One, and squeezing it between the likes of "I'm no longer a Celebrity....They found me at the Jobcentre" and some cheap imported US comedy won't save the channel.

As for bringing Trevor McDonald back - what next, dig up Reggie Bosenquet as relief anchor? I know, why not resurrect Crossroads, I believe it had good ratings when there was nothing else to watch!

Was there any mention of the return of the News at 10 in the paper review on Sky News or News 24?
