That music was used from March 1999 until February 2004. However, in 2003 the opening music was tweaked to allow the bongs to be inserted randomly rather than fixed to the beat.
Thanks
I wish they'd bring it back. If you look at the intro on the News Special from September the 11th, the theme is just perfect for real news.

When did use of the theme in that 2002 Youtube clip begin and end?

From watching the promo for News at Ten on Friday is the News at Ten bring presented from full CSO Green Studio?
They used this studio for when ITV News Channel was kicked out of the main studio when ITV1 News Bulletins were rehearsing. The background looks very much like it but with the reflection on the desk being fixed and the smoother look of the camera angles I would have thought they were just using the main studio?

It's from the main studio, but it's been revamped to basically become a full CSO studio by removing the walkway and platform from the floor and green screening it all.

From what I know they are in their normal studio, but the floor is now green, meaning its virtual like the video wall. The only real parts of the studio are the platform under the desk, the desk and chairs, this is in the same position as it was when the 'walkway' was their. As I have said in another post, on the ITV.com website their is a glimpse of the rehersals and in the background their is a man taking masking tape off the green floor.

Are you serious? 9:59:30? For what reason? It'll start at 10 o'clock!
If the titles are 30 seconds long, they should start at 9:59:30 so that the news is ready to start on the firs bong.
Er, no. The programme will surely start at 22:00:00. The bongs seems to have become synonymous with ITV News through the years, but I don't think they were ever intended as a genuine reflection of the exact time of Big Ben's bongs. If they were, they'd need to include all of Big Ben's pre-amble chimes up to the hour and then have ten headline bongs! It's merely a 'device'.
18:00 radio 4 you get the live pre bong chimes.

This is how I reckon it will work:
1) ITV1 continuity (around 9:59:30): Now on ITV1, we join Trevor McDonald and Julie Etchingham for tonight's News at Ten (or something along those lines; I doubt ITN or ITV News will be mentioned).

Right. But ITV1 is not Radio 4. And even Radio 4 play recorded chimes and bongs.

Isn't it the same set as before except without the walkway and a green floor?

There is a difference between this set and a normal green box though - the wall is still curved, meaning that there is still a faint projection on the wall for the presenters.
