Are we expecting Friday's 'Late News' to share 'News at Ten's look but with a different logo. I mean as it is night-time I would expect the dark London backing but will we have the 'fly-over' title sequence?
Another thing I find interesting is when I was at BBC News they said that they had to tone-down their 'city' backdrop soooo much because the regions were not happy with it looking like London!
I like the fact ITV have ignored all the 'London-centric' allegations and just gone for it! Looks better for it. London has great significance and authority for a news bulletin.
That's the BBC for you.
It's been indicated here that "The Late News" will basically be News at Ten at Eleven and share it's branding. Personally I think it should be branded with the rest of ITV News.
I imagine there will be a lengthy pre-prepared set piece report. Most relaunches either national or regional news do it as if you leave it to what is actually in the news, you could end up relaunching on a quiet news day
I doubt there will be any self promotion except maybe in 'and finally' or probably at the end of the ITV Evening News
It's quite notable that the brand 'News at Ten' seems to be being used without a ITV prefix (or an ITN prefix)
I really can't get over the poor music though. It really sounds like a bad mock to me. Very bad synthesising of the 1992 onwards orchestral theme. How hard would it have been for them to have recorded it with a proper orchestra? The theme has no gravitas and no authority in Synth form. It sounds so 'Casio Keyboard' as i said before. Especially the awful drums.
The music on those titles seems to be more like the 1980s music than the 1990s theme. It has the "da da da-da" which accompanied the logo formup prior to 1992, but was not actually present on the 1990s version of the theme (the 1990s title sequence did not have the "News at Ten" logo during the titles, it appeared in the corner over the headlines), although it was used on **every other** ITN bulitten from 1995 through to 2004! This seems odd as the version of the theme used at the end of the preview on the News at 10:30 last night seemed to be almost identical to the sting used into the ad break on the 1990s arrangement.

Here are some past opening titles from NAT, which do you like best?
Even though we can't see the whole of them I have to say the 2008 titles look like the best. Although, as others have mentioned, the music is better on older versions.
1992 has the best music, but the graphics from the new 2008 sequence are simply too gorgeous to ignore.
Love the new titles... can't wait to see them on-screen. It seems they are using different aspects from NaT's history in this new revamp (or so it seems to me): using two presenters ('60s, '70s, '80s), the '80s titles and opening them, the '90s break sting, and a new (2008) studio. Or maybe I'm just being stupid.
Anyways, I'd really wished they'd used some variation of the 1992-99 theme. I prefer that one to all the others.

The 1992 version later changed...by the mid 1990s the "ITN Independent Television News" ident was gone, replaced with "ITN" over the title sequence. The ITN newsroom was no longer shown and there was no wide shot after the headlines.
