In that YouTube video the backdrop is different to what was shown on the Evening News last week - it's the view from the London Television Centre / LWT building looking towards St Paul's - very similar to the London Tonight backdrop.

Looks quite nice.

The background seems to be proper VR, too. It looks to me like the clock face is fixed, and the skyline rolls around behind it, depending on what angle you're looking at it from.

Not sure about the floor.

I don't think so. It looks like the two banks of the Thames each side of the skyline to me.

In that image you've got the dome of St Paul's on the left, then Blackfriars Bridge to the left of Trevor. On Trevor's right you can see the lightbox at the top of Tate Modern, then the Oxo Tower nearer the 2pm position of the clock. The view is definitely from the ITV complex on the South Bank.

The view we saw last week was from the north bank at the northern (western) end of Waterloo Bridge looking the other way towards the London Eye and Houses of Parliament.

Well looking at the floor, we can see now why it to has become virtual. You have the nice blue gradient from the desk, and the reflection of the FULL HEIGHT "window" which now goes from floor to ceiling.

From the video, it looks like ITV News have splashed out on two new chairs Wink

OK, we'll agree to disagree on this one! Wink

I'm pretty sure I read on here somewhere that the backdrop on the Evening News last week appeared to have been incorrectly reversed, as opposed to looking the other way, and I think I agree, although it was difficult to tell.

With the loss of the walkway, I wonder if News at Ten will become a fully sitting down bulletin.

I think it would look good for the introduction for Trevor and Julie to be stood up in front of the desk (where Trevor is in the image above), for the headlines, but with the rest of the programme being a sit down bulletin. However it would be a problem for Mark and Julie (remember the Mark and Lucy Owen incident..) for the height difference.

I think they need to town down the platform underneath the desk, maybe to a darker grey. I'm not sure on the desk, it looks out of place, and ruins the VR in my opinion.

Overall though I'm impressed with the VR. I can see the Evening & Lunchtime bulletins continue to use the VR walkway. With the same platform under the desk (as it is now).

What VR? It's just a picture of London in the background!
