New NAT titles unveiled. Camera flied over London - whizzes past Canary Wharf...past the London Eye etc...ending up at "Big Ben" - good to see they pulled out some old library tapes of previous opening sequences.

Anyone notice that Sir Trevor is very particular about being delighted to be there for the launch of NAT. Confirmation that he'll only stay for the first few months - get the thing going and he's off.

Sounds good though I find I'm much more interested in how the music will go personally.

I just hope the other bulletins change as well because if these titles are as good as they sound, they're going to make the other bulletins look even more dated.

Sounds fantastic. Let's hope for that straight from the ident, then headlines, sweeping studio shot and into first story Very Happy

And here for no apparent reason is NAT's opening from June/July 1982 - spot the mistake.

Channel 4 news is a clear example though of how they split the programme between two presenters, and in my mind an example that works very well.

£350,000 for reading an autocue? Her strength lies in analysis and interviews - why do you think she got The Sky Report gig?

Im guessing the mistake is that Selina Scott looked very much like Sandy Gall in 1982....??

Ok its Sandy instead of Alistair im guessing.....

Interesting to see ITV using Google text ads to promote the return of NaT

Has the promo aired on ITV yet?

Random thought...

I was wondering whether (as is common now) promos for News at Ten might crop up on other channels - and if so, would they be allowed to promote it as "News at Ten", as technically for promos airing on other channels they can only say what day they are on, not what time.

I don't know if this has been discussed or not but the ITV1 current affairs series 'Tonight' has tweaked titles and music. It features the date, as normal and the title of the programme is also on, replacing the bit that said 'with Trevor McDonald'.

It makes more sense, Trevor would get stressed doing 90 second presenting for the programme AND doing News at Ten a few nights each week.

When the return of News at Ten was first announced ITV said that Trevor would no longer introduce every edition of Tonight but will still do big set-piece interviews and suchlike for the show.
