It was also tweaked of course when the teal titles came in. I wouldn't be as harsh to call the current theme rubbish - but I did prefer the 2004 version to the later reworking.


I suspect they may go for something similar to the late 90's, which were noticeably different but with clear similarities.


Do we think also on News at Ten at least they'll go back to having the 4 or 5 headlines in one sequence, rather than the first headline and then the titles, all mixed in with clips.

^ I agree, I hope they do all the headlines at once rather than glorifying one in particular.

And I'd like all other bulletins to lose the bongs.

I've got it on high authority that January will look like this:

Mon-Thu - Trevor and Julie
Fri - Nina or Mates

I hope the overated Mark Austin doesn't randomly start doing the News at Ten e.g. Mon-Tue & Thu: Trevor & Julie, Wed: Mark & Julie.

I'd rather Trevor and Julie did the 4 nights, but in press releases it said Trevor will do two or three nights each week.

I'd love to see Trevor & Mark presenting together.. I can imagine the tension.

TBH, if the plans were in gestation a year ago (rumours certainly were abound then) I'm surprised ITN didn't nab Moira Stuart following her redundancy at the BBC. Having a pairing like Trevor and Moira would have only served to boost publicity.

However, it ain't going to happen. And I have a good feeling that News at Ten will do better this time; even ignoring the return of Trevor McDonald and the nabbing of Julie Etchingham, ITV seem to be really putting a lot of effort into it this time around, whereas the previous attempt was somewhat half-hearted.

Same here. Mark Austin is part of the main presenting team of the NaT.

Why on earth would anyone want Moira Stuart - people only began mentioning her name when she became surplus to requirements at the BBC!


The people moaning about her being axed from her weekly five minute stint on the politics show had hardly in the past been campaigning for her to have a role in the major bulletins.

Oh here we go! A word of warning. Don't be scoffing humble pie like I did when someone first suggested NAT would be back.

"Oh here we go"??? Anything official that's been released about News at Ten has Mark as part of the team. There's even a picture which might help!

the bit that gets me is when they say 'Julie will co-present with Mark Austin' - but no mention of trevor with julie!
