I wonder if the other bulletins will get an update, in fact.

I was saying, would they really want to follow the news at ten and go for the scenary background, then you'd end up with the news at ten look for the evening news in the winter.

I'd hope for a mini refresh, though they may just stick with the same.

I'd have changed the studio, so that it had the flat walls of the BBC, with a big circular desk that could have been placed everywhere.

It's a shame that ITV Day doesn't still exist so that the lunchtime could be purposely given a different look to the evening leaving the news at ten with his own look.

I'm not sure how they can make the lunchtime and evening look different, unless they can somehow return to the graphics look rather than background of the atrium.

Though I get the feeling that they won't change anything to the other news yet.

What about Regional News? I know the graphics have just been altered following the switch to widescreen, but will there be any changes?

I expect they've done what they need, and removed the walkway from the set. I guess they'll now virtually add a black floor, with the London Thames backdrop on the wall behind. From the promo, it seems to be going dark and moody, a bit like the 1992 version. The desk will probably sit on a black platform, rather than the blue version currently in use.

I expect that the other bulletins would remain as they are, with the blue walkway floor added virtually. That's one benefit of this set I expect, the ability to change it's apperarance between bulletins, which has been underutilised thus far. (except that ghastly Lunchtime News backdrop).

Not sure I like the removal of the walkway, the set is becoming increasingly virtual, and the re-introduction of NaT seems a bit hurried, but it's the content that will matter. And looks like the "Theatre of News" will be here for some time longer.

I know none of this, all conjecture on my part.

Does this mean that ITV1 News bulletins will be kicked out of the main studios Studio 2 and into the CSO studio Studio1 for the next week while work is being carried out to modify the set for News at Ten?

I wonder how the atrium look will be in the CSO studio?

The changes necessary for News at Ten (i.e. removing the walkway and painting the floor green) have already been done. They were carried out in early December. They are already keying in the walkway so I expect they will just continue like that.

I would hope if nothing else on the other bulletins they at least drop the walkway too - perhaps use a clock face floor instead.

I wonder though with the focus on News at Ten whether they might also get the bongs exclusively again?

I reckon they will, actually. I think they want the bongs to be News at Ten's special thing. And to be honest, with the other bulletins starting on the half hour, there shouldn't be bongs anyway!

I can't remember if I brought this up in here or in the main ITV News thread but by the Lunchtime and Evening News just going for a standard backdrop with no superimposed graphics (like those used on the regional news), and focused on a different place to News at Ten then they could probably get away with it without ITV News and News at Ten looking like eachother.

Will News at Ten be a standalone show or will it just be ITV News at 10?

It's being billed and listed as News at Ten without ITV in the name at all.

I suppose you could almost say News At Ten will be to ITV News as Newsnight is to BBC News.

They do seem to be disassociating it with the ITV News brand - and even the Friday edition is being promoted as "The Late News".

Perhaps there will be several branded styles:

"ITV News" - 1.30, 6.30, weekend bulletins
"News at Ten" - 10.00
"The Late News" - Fridays 11.00
