IIRC isn't the old London Tonight studio now used for the likes of Loose Women?

Loose Women used it for a short while and I think I spotted it in an advert not so long ago but I think apart from a few corporates it is mainly used by ITV Sport.

They used it when they first moved into the London Studios about 3 years ago. Though half way through they had a backing cloth identical to the live view and decamped to Studio 3 at the London Studios where they've been ever since, with a couple of sets within that time.

I see it randomly used on random programmes, but not on a lot. Didn't Charlie Brooker use it on his show about News Programmes?
I think that they mainly hire it out for corporate events now as it provides a great view, and I'm sure it has a small balconey.

It's a shame as it is a lovely view to be used for a programme, but as I said I'm not sure how it would affect production using a studio outside of the production.
Surely if they thought that that would be practical then they wouldn't have removed London Today/Tonight from the London Studios and just moved the production to Grays Inn Road.

I wonder what the studio would look like if they changed and added that background for the News At Ten.

I think that's a different studio in a building on the other side of the river. IIRC, Sunday AM used it for a few weeks when TC7 was last revamped. I think it might also be the studio that London TV used.

And something hazy in the back of my mind tells me the studio might be in City Hall - although I could have dreamt that.

You're muddling several different studios which all have river views.

There's the ex-London Tonight studio at the London Television Centre which looks out at Blackfriars Bridge and St Paul's. It has been rumoured that ITV is considering this studio for News at Ten.

There's also a studio at the top of a tower block on Albert Embankment (by Lambeth Bridge) which has a great backdrop of the Houses of Parliament. This is used for all sorts of things. ITV's Dimbleby programme used it for a while.

London TV had its studio in an office block next to City Hall, overlooking Tower Bridge. Sunday AM used this building a couple of times.

Frankly though this discussion is rather pointless. ITN news programmes have been produced at Greys Inn Road for the last 15-20 years or so and there is no reason to change that now.

ITV aren't going to be wanting to spend any more money than necessary, ITN aren't going to want to have people producing bulletins at two sites and considering Trevor McDonald is said to have reclaimed his dressing room from Mark Austin, it's all going to be at ITN HQ.

Think it was an office Sir Trev apparently reclaimed wasn't it?

14 January is the latest reckoning from Media Guardian:

As I said before Smile Seems a plausible date, it's the week where all the remaining 90 minute shows (Taggart, Wire in the Blood etc) are done so 60 minute shows at 9pm like The Palace can begin.

Should be a very exciting week for ITV1.

I hope they do it right though, I wonder just how much they are going to put into this - will the whole news output be revamped now?

Well it sounds like studio changes are being made, but considering they've only just altered graphics for the change to widescreen I'd be very surprised to see a full scale revamp just six weeks later.

As I said before, we'll probably have to wait until the next time News at Ten is axed for that!

*yawn*

Am I right in thinking News at Ten will have an entirely separate identity to the rest of the bulletins?
