News at Ten - Weeknights on ITV1

Is he? I never realised they officially had a weekend presenter after Andrea left. It seems that Steve, Geraint, Nina and now Lucy Meacock share it. Its a bit daft Steve being the weekend presenter when he is one of the main presenters on HTV West. Its obvious he cant do every weekend on ITV News as he will need a day off at some point.



It has been a while since ive seen Geraint present. Any idea why he no longer does bulletins?

I agree about Steve Scott, definately not one of my favourite presenters.

I don't think he's officially the weekend presenter - he's just one of the pool of presenters who is involved.


And I don't think Geraint Vincent's finished presenting - I'm sure he did the Evening News the other day. He just took a couple of months out due to the Rugby World Cup.

Re Geraint - im sure ive seen his name listed in the Radio TImes for presenting the Evening News week commencing 10th December.

I posted the following in the ITV News thread by accident:

Geraint did the Evening News with Nina two Friday's ago. He's done a couple of sports reports since returning from the RWC, I think he could still do more presenting.. Considering they haven't replaced much of the staff that have left e.g. Felicity Barr, Andrea Catherwood & Leyla D.. - I think they were the main weekend presenters before.

Lucy Meacock? If you're a five year old and can't understand the big words (I think that's the majority of ITV News' viewership actually) then she's the presenter for you!

I'm not an ITN obsessive, but I really think the ITN name should come back and replace the awful "ITV News" name. Michael Grade - take note.

Hopefully, NaT will be successful. I can't see why ITN picked Julie Etchingham for the post - good as she is - but I think the News at Ten would have/will worked better publicity-wise if they got Moira Stuart on board.

Will there be a new seperate studio for News at Ten when it returns?

Will there also be a new opening title sequence. I loved the 1988-1992 title sequence, the zoom over a computer generated London right up to Big Ben even impresses me to this day.

I saw a video of it on the tvroom website and it looked fab. I wonder what they will have for the new News at Ten?

I don't think ITN have a suitable spare studio do they?

Whether they have a different version of the virtual "theatre of news" backdrop who knows? Could ITN be considering ditching the entire "theatre of news" virtual set ?

I'd be surprised if they can afford to make huge changes - unless ITV bung 'em some more cash as a one-off.

This is probably obvious, but is there a studio which directly looks over London (Big Ben, Eye etc). It would be nice to have a live window view, but i think thats impossible.

The only studio that ITV have is the one at the London Studios, not within Grays Inn Road that was the former home of London News. I think that someone mentioned that this was used in the pilot for the News At Ten.

It would make a great set, but I'm not sure how it would work as it's not an ITN studio, and I'm not sure how it would affect production.

The only thing is if they could integrate a similar background into the virtual studio.
