Central- Just after news at ten the national weather was weird. It showed sheilas wheels then went to a long breakbumper and glimpsed ANGLIA news instead of central and then went into the national news which cut off less than halfway. So we never got to know what the weather was really for the UK lol.

Indeed, was quite a cock-up - glad I had the DVD recording it all!

Here in Yorkshire we had the ITN endcap followed by - like you've said - a quick glimpse of an empty Anglia News studio. There was a quick cut to a still "ITV1" caption (from one of the breakbumpers IIRC). Sheila's Wheels then played as normal, though Martyn Davies appeared to be standing as rigid as hell for five straight seconds before someone realised and unpaused the tape, and he was subsequently cut off in his prime.. I'm not usually a NAT viewer but since I'm watching ITV's football I was going to give it a go, but apparently the lead story is Wayne and Coleen's wedding so I won't be. Is NAT usually so tabloidy - it's more what I'd expect from Five?

I very much doubt it will be there lead. The Evening News only mentioned it was going to be in the programme, not the lead.

Oh, I got the impression it was the lead from the coming up just before the end of the football, maybe they were just trying to attract the football audience.

They would have been trying to get some of the football audience to stay tuned for News at Ten. It was their 'and finally..' item, during the credits I seen Trevor shaking his head and I don't blame him.

I really don't think the "football" audience would care about Wayne Rooney's wedding anyway.

This is going to make me sound I am a crazed News At Ten fan, but I'm not, I totally respect the bulletin: it has a catchy theme tune, its stories can be better than Sky and the Beeb's [in fact, more of the time]; they have more factually interesting international reports such as China correspondent John Ray's earthquake-aftermath of how gorillas survived. I also like the fact that Julie and Trevor don't often say "Go to our website", a banner pops up mid-report - something all ITV News bulletins should adopt.
For me, I cannot fathom out why News At Ten is not beating the BBC. ITN has better presentation, better reports, better newscasters etc.
I know what is to blame [here's me sounding like an old person]: The Internet, "Get news onto your mobile", digital television and 24-hour news. Reduce all three and I guarantee NaT's figures will go up.

In other news: I notice you all have posted correspondents "missing" from ITV News: I'm surprised Mark Eddo has left. He didn't last long!
However, I wonder if others such as Julian Manyon, Harry Smith and Lawrence McGinty have gone.
I know Harry Smith sometimes does weekend and weekday reporting, but I would like to see him become a foreign correspondent. The only times I recall him being abroad was to cover for USA Correspondent Robert Moore, and to help Bill Neely file reports when Madrid suffered a terrorist attack. He used to be Scotland Correspondent, I remember, in the good old days of ITN News.
Lawrence McGinty: I will be surprised to hear if he left. Quite a good reporter. Anyone else remember him being the first reporter to talk underwater for ITN News in the 1990s?
Julian Manyon: He was on News At Ten last month, but has only been on a handful of times this year, I notice.

Better newscasters, what rubbish, Huw and Fiona are fine although I admit George and Kate are useless.

I think it's because BBC are known to always deliver impartial and higher quality of journalism whereas NAT is the less sensationalist one on ITV.

I must agree - I don't think George and Kate are up to the game at the moment on the BBC - and I am beginning to wonder why I watch the 1 or 6 at all. The 10, however, is far superior. Sophie Raworth is fine, but they need somebody engaging for the 6, I think this will be Ben Brown's job before long...

Well I hope Trev and Alastair Stewart never try the green 'Car Sharing' option to get to work Scratch Head

The point, of course, is that is a non-story!

I wonder when Trev last had to drive to/from work. How much expensive red wine he sups in his comfy chair next to the TV at midnight after work is no one's business but his and Lady McD's!
