Also it was mentioned in the main ITV News thread but Katie is apparently down to do all three NAT's next week.
On another note, the figures plummeted to 2.1m last night, although the share was actually around 20% which is much better than usual.

Not too bad considering that NaT didn't start until 11.15pm.
It must be a good rating for any channel at 11.15pm, saying that though I can never help but feel that some more viewers may hang around if there were no adverts in the middle of the programmes, and the adverts were increased within the breaks of the programmes.

Yes, there was absolutely no need for an advert break in between the football and News at Ten. There had only just been a break before the final few minutes of the football coverage so another was not needed so soon. Granted, more viewers would have been watching, hence more revenue, but they have to think out of the box. They'd have been better keeping hold of the viewers by going straight into NAT, leading with the football - an added incentive, and then having an lengthier break during the news. If they had to take a break pre-NAT, they could have at least aired a 10-second promo for the bulletin to flag up the football coverage.

I was waiting for the news to come on last night and when the ITV1 breakbumper came on after the football, I thought 'Christ, not a further wait!'. I would have thought they'd have been keen to get NAT on the air as soon as possible, given it was already over an hour late.

Mmmm, I do agree that it would have been much better to have no break between the shows.
I know that I would have stayed watching. I stayed for the news after the FA Cup final on Saturday, but I know I would have flicked if there'd been ads.

Considering how much ITV were selling ad slots for last night you can't blame them for getting as much revenue out of it as possible. Ads earlier in the evening don't really factor into the equation either - that was the first (or second) full ad break of their overnight quota, so it made commercial sense to air it there and get maximum revenue rather than air them later in the night for a fraction of the price.
And I wouldn't say ratings "plummeted" to 2.1m - they haven't really been that much above that in it's regular slot anyway.

At the end of tonight's Trev mentioned a goodnight from everyone here at ITN, which is a nice touch as they rarely say it these days.
Wonder why there's been two references to ITN from Trevor - I wonder if he's about to bow out from News at Ten (presumably for the final time!) and is trying to get in all the "ITNs" he can, wherever possible....
Trevor to leave News at Ten at the end of the year?

Not so much a cock-up, but tonight Trevor said something like "we have an ITN News reporter in Burma...", instead of "ITV News". Also noticed that instead of a VT of the first report in part two on one of the CGI screens, we got the NaT logo back instead. Quite a shame as I felt it worked having a video playing in the "glass panel".

Central- Just after news at ten the national weather was weird. It showed sheilas wheels then went to a long breakbumper and glimpsed ANGLIA news instead of central and then went into the national news which cut off less than halfway. So we never got to know what the weather was really for the UK lol.
