She seems to be the first choice replacement then - is she doing the Evening News all week too?
No real reason for thinking it, but I always assumed Nina Hossain would become Julie's regular stand-in at News at Ten, to kind of give her a more prominent role than the Weekend bulletins / standing in for everyone else every day.

Cant remember about the Evening but Mary and Mark were down for the late news on Friday which surprised me as I thought Nina would do that one.
Well Katie Derham is supposed to be the stand in, unless people just assumed that when she stood in for Julie once. Mary has now done News at Ten more often than Katie.

Good to see Mary will be on next week. I still think that Mary should be doing News at Ten because she is more authoritative than Julie and looks more comfortable presenting in that style. Julie too is a fantastic host and went right up in my estimations last night by the way she did her single header, but I'd like to see her become the face of the Evening News instead because she looks more comfortable presenting in the generic ITV style- a lot more comfortable than when shes without Trevor and that is some improvement. I suppose from her point of view it must be very daunting and intimidating presenting alongside a well established figure.
Julie, I think, could single handedly pull off the Evening News with Mark and Mary taking on a permanent role on News at Ten which would suit all three better.
IMO, the weekend presenter (usually Nina) should do The Late News- of course unless they drag Lucy down from Manchester.
When Katie stood in for Julie, I think that was only because Mary was at the same event (some awards thing).

Good point about Katie. But I do like her as well and would like to see her on News at Ten.
Oh and talking of Lucy you have just reminded me that it says in the RT she is doing bulletins this Saturday!

This interview with Mohammed Al Fayed is terrible. It's so repetitive and slow moving...
