Superb, thought provoking coverage on News at Ten tonight.

So sad about that guy, it was really awful seeing footage of him making jokes on that helmet camera and stuff and then his friend trying so hard not to break down. It was heartbreaking. Fantastic journalism, detailed and superb.

Good format too - 15 minutes Frontline Live / 15 minutes rest of day's news.

Dammit, busy working and can't get at a TV at the moment. Does ITV have an iPlayer-like system by which you can watch it again?

Sounds a lot like sensationalism to me - perhaps I'm being cynical.

I saw a bit with Mark live in Afghanistan, but did they have both Trevor and Julie in the studio, or is it being used as an excuse for Trevor to have the week off.

Personally though I think in these situations it's best to have the live broadcast in the one bulletin, the Evening News, and then to follow that up with a separate special report in the News at Ten.

Yeah, Trevor and Julie in the studio. Mark anchored first 15 mins, then Trev and Julie presented the rest of the day's news.

if you can afford to spend the rest of your life getting it to work, then yes.

Oh, you need Internet Explorer, Windows XP, Windows Media Player and a ton of security component upgrades.

Good luck.

Unfortunate, because I am currently on a Mac.

Oh well.

Be interesting if this poll could be reset and see what the answer is now!!! Probably reversed I'd have thought.

Why do you say that, Moz? There hasn't been that much criticism of News at Ten on here - and traditionally, TVF members are fairly critical of things.

NAT may not be the same as BBC News but it's not trying to be. Whichever way you look at it, ITV has raised its standards for NAT which can only be a positive thing. It's miles better than the News at 10.30 was.

Though I'd probably switch my vote from bad news to good news, I think the real question now is about Trevor McDonald. I just can't see the bulletin have any chance of building it's audience when he's still with it - I think he's a hinderance more than a help, and it's disappointing the live in Afghanistan thing wasn't used as an excuse for a Trevor free week.

Trevor has a very recognisable face and is well known with the ordinary television viewer. He's just there to draw the viewers in for the moment until they get to know and trust Julie. She's still relatively unknown for many viewers.
