Well you may not agree, but in my opinion I think he will be mad. The Late News was a programme which is a clone of NaT but at 11. Mark was clearly given it just to keep him sweet after being demoted from the 10.30 anchor. He was the one who was supposed to carry on from Trevor, but now Trevors back, Mark has to take more of a back seat. The bulletin being demoted to the same stories as the Evening News, less NaT branding, I would have thought he would be mad.
So my point being, he won't be happy with the fact that the bulletin doesn't stand out anymore. Its just another normal bulletin. If no one agree's with me, thats fine Laughing

The NaT-style Late News pres is definitely classier and more authoritative.

I think it must be a financial decision - if it were just a question of branding rather than investment, then surely they would have continued to use the jib at 11pm.

Fair point - but I suppose if noone is watching The Late News, then why should they bother producing an authoritative, classier bulletin on a Friday night? The Late News still hasn't managed to pull the punters in yet since it was launched only a few weeks ago.

This may sound weird but recently I've been looking at the clock on Friday nights, saying to myself 'oh, its nearly ten o'clock. I'll put News At Ten on', only to sit in front of the television and be reminded that it's not actually on until 11. I'm sure a few of us have mentioned this (nudge nudge Brekkie), but I'll repeat it - I believe they should have brought back News At Ten on a full Mon-Fri basis.

Yeh I kinda thought it was weird that News At Ten wasn't on tonight, but then I'm drunk so doesn't make much of a difference haha.

Personally I prefer the usual ITV News titles and presentation for Friday's 11pm bulletin. It clearly isnt News at 10 so it was a little silly to have NAT titles on "The Late Bulletin" in the first place!

It was strange seeing Julie in the ITV News studio though as I think only up until news she has presented only from the News at Ten studio.

I think The Late News should have its own distinctive style. Perhaps a more 'rocked-up' version of The Awakening ...

I don't - we don't want a million different styles for essentially the same bulletin.

Yeah for all those Friday night party goers out there! Cool

Always felt if Friday's bulletin isn't News at Ten, it shouldn't pretend to be and though it appears to be somewhat of a back track, I think it's the right decision to give it the ITV News branding, however awful that might be at the minute.

Ratings wise - we know BBC are trouncing ITV, and ITV are claiming both more people are watching News at Ten than the old 10.30pm bulletin and what they used to screen at 10pm, but has the overall news audience in the 10pm hour gone up?

(i.e. are News at Ten's extra viewers just deserters from the BBC 10pm news_

Why didnt they set the clock to 11 for the late news titles?

Because it would have cost more money.

Bollards. Total and utter bollards.

The 1988-1993 titles ALWAYS showed the correct time - even if one minute early or late - or one hour - because the hands on the CGI Big Ben were generated live at the top of each programme. If they could do that in 1988, why can't they do it now? We supposedly have better graphics and editing software these days that work in real-time, on-the-fly.

Becuase they aren't rendered live?
