I feel sorry for the poor old regional newsreaders on a Friday evening, having to hang on for an extra hour before they get their gig.

Then they've probably got a really long drive home through a cold, cold night. No nookie for them till about 2am.

Bring back the Ten every night, I say. Preferably preceeded by a nice touch of "Revolve into Clock-Up" as I'm sure somebody once called it.

These suggestions of News at Ten not starting bang on 10:00:00 being confusing are frankly ludicrous. Viewers don't sit there with their to-the-second clock next to the TV, in a state of bewilderment because the news hasn't started yet.

Anyway... has Julie had a night off yet?

ITV's so called flagship news programme NEWS AT 10 with the ever-so-wooden Trevor really is something of a laughing subject. What is just so crazy is that all the hype that surrounded the pre-launch has resulted in a rather 'watered down' version of what we had, long before ITV decided to shelve the once great news show.
It's little wonder then that the BBC continue to have much higher viewing figures for the 22.00 news.

Get a grip. The new N@10 is actually a really well produced programme, with a lot of original journalism, and the whole bulletin has a very fresh feel to it (graphics, two presenters etc.). I actually find it a lot more watchable than the 10 on the beeb. It's not a laughing stock when it continues to get higher ratings than say Newsnight (the BBC's flagship news programme).

Starting bang on 10 O'Clock is neither here nor there, and if that's all people are obsessed with in terms of criticism - they can't be doing that much wrong!

More to the point, apart from Friday's has Trevor - surely he hasn't done three full four-day weeks?

Exactly, few people will notice let alone care. I don't think many people would class being one minute past 10 as 'late' anyway.

I still find Trevor really unwatchable... I'm sticking to just the Evening News and/or Channel 4 News for the most part, with the occasional flick to NaT , it does seem pretty well put together with some good reports. Watched the Late News last night, Mark is so much better than Trevor.

Perhaps, but ITN have also had to con Mark Austin into thinking he's hosting News at Ten too, and soon enough he'll figure out they're putting the clocks back an hour every Friday night.

Well im still quite surprised that Mark wants to do the late news on a Friday - before N at T came back he didnt work Fridays at all let alone the late bulletin.

I guess the reason is, like you said, he wants to be involved in the News at Ten bulletins even though Friday it isnt at 10.

Also with regards to the regional bulletin being so late on Friday night, dont know about elsewhere but in Wales they tend to use a different presenter for the late on Fridays. Monday to Thurs it tends to be one of the 6pm anchors.

I think it's probably more to do with the fact that he gets to go home every other night at 7 now instead of 11!
