Now that we've all had chance to listen to the new News at Ten theme music, which is your favourite version?
I've never really liked the original version (pre-1992). The 1992 and 2008 versions are the best but, for me, the 1992 one edges it. Being completely orchestral, it had a very powerful and authoritative feel. The new stuff is powerful but it doesn't feel quite the same as 1992.
The 1992 version certainly was the best. Very powerfull and it made you sit up and take note of what was coming on to our tv screens. Whilst the new version is good, it just doesn't sound quite as powerful.
They're the same theme tune. The 1992 theme was best, I can't understand why they've not just recycled that for the relaunch it sounds a million times better.
The 1992 Theme was definately the best. The current version is pretty good and very similar, the Synth works better on the Headline bed, but it still sounds great when it's the end of the programme, it sounds nearly the same as the 1992 version.
The 1999-2004 wasn't special, it was just the normal ITV News theme, which to be fair was a remix of the News At Ten theme, as was the 2004 heavily synthezised version and the current 2006 version of it.

What about you?
I agree. I wish they'd brought this version back for the revamp. Strange how on the new opening titles, they've put the drum roll (as heard in the 92-99 theme) in, followed by a rearranged pre-1992 theme (which never had the drum roll at the top). Every time I hear that drum roll on the new titles I keep expecting to be blown away by the 1992 version.
In these newly remade themes, the trumpet sections let it down for me. For example: compare the 92-99 closing theme with the newly remade version. You'll see what I mean.
I'm not liking the version used now at all for the titles - it seems great on the stings and at the end, but it just doesn't do it for me on the titles.
