So the news is at Ten but it's not been allowed to be called 'News at Ten', and is still using the 10.30 titles.
Guess ITV don't want to admit News at Ten could indeed return.
You'd have to wonder why ITV News didn't use the generic late news presentation with the clock striking Ten (That's the case with the Sunday night bulletin).
From the one phone conversation we've ever had, I actually found Peter Preston to be a jolly nice chap, but in terms of the salience of the analysis, I haven't seen anything wider of the mark than this on any subject (TV/media or otherwise) in a long time.
I was at 200 GIR in April 1997, and ITV were holding a press launch in the atrium regarding their general election coverage. I do recall a Gruaniad reporter back then asking what C4 were planning, and the assembled panel advised she'd have to ask C4 that question. She came back with a reply that clearly indicated she didn't understand at all the relationships between ITN, ITV and C4. Twas ever thus
It had been different in the previous Election. In 1992 Ch4 News promoted the election coverage on ITV. Dermot Murnaghan on Ch4 News interviewed Jon Snow who was presenting the ITV coverage.

That's right. Up until Dec 31 1992, ITV financed the channel and sold C4's advertising, so the relationship between the two channels was akin to that of BBC 1 and 2. Post Jan 1993 C4 started to sell its own advertising, so things changed.....
Watching the end of that video, Tom Bradby's enunciation is terrible - "Julie will be here tommorrow nigh_ for all tha_ and much more...". As a television newscaster he really ought to be able to speak clearly and properly.
