My gut feeling is that if Tom did win an award tonight ITV will not reinstate NAT just because of the award. They will either move it back to 10 naturally at the end of The Nightly Show; carry TNS on longer or find something else to fill the 10pm slot and keep the news at 1030 even longer.
Then again companies and governments have done surprising spin when u-turning or backtracking on things so I wouldn't be surprised if they did use the award as a reason for NAT reinstatement although I highly doubt they would if it was reinstated
In 2015 News at Ten did win best daily programme and Mark Austin best network presenter.

Ratings will dictate its future more than awards. They'll see the week out for sure and next week too, plus of course the decision largely rests with the person who made the decision in the first place. With that in mind I think The Nightly Show might hold on but would have it's run shortened.

Yes I too hope Tom wins tonight; for two reasons. One he deserves it as he has done many good things over the years as stated above and Two; maybe this will get ITV to reinstate News At Ten to 10:00PM and get back to normality.

I hope that the Royal Television Society doesn't get the names wrong in its journalism awards ceremony, which takes place tomorrow, and that Tom will win the Presenter of the Year award. As well as being an ITN veteran, Tom is also a successful novel and screenwriter and holds a Master of Arts degree in History from Edinburgh University. Therefore, his credentials as a news and current affairs presenter are unassailable.

Was he not just referring to the fact that the news is at 10:30pm?

In the coming up promo Rageh just referred to tonight's programme as the news at 10.30, if they were gonna name that the programme,
they should rename the lunchtime and evening news the 1.30 and the 6.30, respectively
.
They did that in November 2009. They reverted two years ago - coinciding with the restructuring that saw Tom become the sole presenter of News at Ten.
I reckon there is deliberate ambiguity in the Coming Up promo - to reflect the provisional plan for the bulletin to go back to 10 in 2 months.

Well that is good news. Like other people have said ratings and decisions. We will see what happens.

Odd article in the Guardian suggesting News at Ten should move to ITV2.
