I can't believe people are criticising it already....it's not even been on TV yet!

For what it's worth, I think it looks and sounds very promising indeed. I've always liked the designs ITV News have used since 2013. The titles are very clean, simple and contemporary - unlike the BBC which is still stuck in 1999 with its beeps, drums and globes. The music is particularly good - it has strong elements of the original News at Ten themes (the 1967 and 1992 versions) but also fits in with the rest of the current ITV national and regional news music. That's no mean feat and I think Dave Hewson has done a fantastic job. I think it's safe to say that with a cohesive brand enhanced by subtle differences, we are firmly back in a golden age of ITV News presentation not unlike the 1995-99 era!

Roll on 22:00!!

As I previously said it has the mix of the old; it also has some of the new as well.

We have News At Ten; le';s cherish it and keep it.

I like the concept of the titles. They DO look a bit 'rough draft' but I think they'll look much better in glorious HD tonight.

The more dramatic theme remix is nice. I like the long timpani roll at the start and the lowercase 'at' in the title. Nice couple of throwbacks to the past. Smile

My only gripe is that the way the Big Ben clock face is at an angle makes it look like the clock is at 9:55 rather than at Ten... and let's be honest ITV would never go to air early at 9:55 unless it's election night! They barely air at Ten!

Not sure I agree, the 1992 clockface that VM Phil posted is at the opposite angle but it's still clearly 10pm to me, rather than five past!

Will be interesting to see what the set looks like.

Hang on a minute...ITV are revamping NaT. Isn't this the point where they get Sir Trev back for a few months???

Having now watched them on a proper screen they're growing on me, though that final screen where it's clear the ITV logo isn't filling the left box annoys. With the voiceover seemingly over that part of the titles it'll be interesting to see if there is any change in the structure of the opening and whether the titles lead into the bongs rather than the other way round. Traditionally they did and I think initially in 2008 they did as well before an opening headline was placed before them. I would like to see them back to the actual rhythm of the bongs with clear sharp headlines rather than an extended intro. Indeed that way even if they start a couple of minutes late they could be on to their first story before the BBC get through the headlines.

Of course though the disadvantage of dedicated titles is they'll stand out even more when it doesn't air at 10pm - from what we've seen since October the programme will probably continue to carry the News at Ten branding in those circumstances.

Main problem I have with the clockface is that you can't actually see the little hand pointing to the numeral X after the cube has rolled over.

That'll be handy for when it airs at 11pm..

Just dipped into Digital Spy and a post there suggesting it managed to hit 10pm on the dot every day last week. Surely not.

Well, I watched it once last week and they managed to be on time. Don't know about every day though.

Perhaps it would have been better to obscure the minute hand instead of the hour one. Wink

Can't vouch for that but the two editions I saw last week did indeed air on time at 10pm.

Can't say I like those, feel a step back from the current titles, and to far removed from the election ones, will see how it looks on telly in a bit.

Yeah I watched it all last week, and it was pretty much bang on 10pm each night. It was even bang on 10pm last night as well.
