Live shot of Big Ben for tonight's first (election) headline, including real chimes. Nice touch!

We were also given a brief glimpse of what looked like a reporter being set up for a piece to camera. A mistake I think but it went well with Tom Bradby's line about how they're "just about to start the counting in Glasgow"

I've just accidentally caught some of the News at Ten for the first time since I forced myself to sit through Bradby's first week.

Still awful.

[during a story about a journalist being jailed in Turkey] "... and this in a country that wants to be in the EU!" - a comment that wouldn't perhaps be out of place during a correspondent discussion, but coming from the anchor it comes across as horribly opinionated.

And I see no-one's been able to get him to pronounce his trailing Ts properly yet, either.

"Facing cour' for accusing the Turkish governmen'... well, today he was sho' a'..."

The main thing I've noticed is that he has a horrible tendency to stumble over words. I also don't think he's particularly good at going off script, if that is what he's doing, like on tonight's ending.

But I still enjoy the reporting despite this, and overall prefer ITV's News at Ten. I just don't think Tom really suits the role of presenter.

I saw the start of the programme last night and the writing style for Tom's intros is really grating.

Having seen the preview of tonight's bulletin, it's obvious that Tom is prone to exaggeration, i.e. the Austrian far-right "almost seizing power".

Ridiculous as the role of president is just a figurehead in Austria.

Which part of that is not true though? The guy is far right and got over 49% of the vote. I don't like his tone a lot of the time but this is fact.

I think that Tom is a brilliant newscaster but the phrase "seizing power" suggests coming to power by a coup.

Even if the role wasn't a figurehead, winning a democratic election is not "seizing power".

Not watched for months, so switched to STV+1 to see Brady introduce the report, speaking about "elections in Austria - the country that gave us Adolf Hitler..."

It's Bradby, not Brady. He got a lot of abuse on Twitter because he was mistaken for American quarterback Tom Brady.

Indeed just ridiculous hyperbole from Bradby
