Terry Wogan can get away with doing so! Wink "Many of the BBC's presenters are overpaid" says £800,000-a-year Sir Terry.

... but BBC shall not speak peace unto BBC, with all those strikes and redundancies, it must be a really good time to be employed as a journalist at the Beeb.

I know that the news media only ever mention their journalistic colleagues that are striking... but it's always worth remembering that industrial action is being organised by BECTU too. Technical and production staff are also striking, not just the hacks!

Short of hitting Mark Thompson somewhere painfull with a rolled up copy of Ariel I don't think the government, Confused sorry BBC Management Confused will listen. Good luck to them though. The last time everyone went out out some of the Management had to read the news. Tamsin O'brien in Leeds read the local news, I can't see Helen Thomas doing the same somehow Wink

There is ONE good side to a BBC strike, however.

It usually makes for some good doily-spotting opportunities.

Anyone know if she's down to be the "duty blackleg" this time?

Ooohh yes - though we won't have the six o'clock news with Stephen Cole this time.

But even so, with all those rare strike appearences...I'm hoping to rack up my total:

I just hope we don't get Aktar Khan at Breakfast again. The man's by far the creepiest thing ever to have appeared on my television with those weird, scary, demonic eyes. I'm sure during the last strike they burnt away some of the phosphor on my screen.

Could we get an appearance of Ellie Crissell on the Nationals, i dont think that Newsround is affected by the strikes, so she may be available to present one of the slots, however her slot would have to be after six o'clock so that she could prepare for newsround. I wonder if someone like Owen Thomas would anchor the overnight/ morning bulletins since he is now freelance. Susan Osman will no doubt surface once again, could she do the same shift as last time. And no doubt the regions will be affected badly.

You're suggesting that Ellie would need to present NR.

They do have other presenters.

He's actually very good, and a bit of a 'kindly uncle' - type figure (go on Mailbox lurkers, someone tell him I said this!!)

I'll be quite content if he covers again.
