News Report with Karin Gianone

Karin has just presented a news special on BBC1 over the case of the Russian Poisoning. Continuous coverage on News 24 with Julian and Sophie.

Interesting to see a good old-fasioned news report.

I nearly fell of my seat when it came up at the end of Neighbours. Should have known it was coming as there normally (correct me if i'm wrong) no announcer on credits if a news report is to follow.

Yes, thats correct. The anno waits until the news report 'ident' comes up, and the credits are left untouched.

Don't you mean a news report rather than a news special. A news special usually lasts for an hour or so and is simulcast on BBC One and News 24.

What warranted the news report? What had changed since the end of the news?

A lot of changed since the One. A very dramatic afternoon with reference to this story.

I don't suppose anyone has any caps of that News Report. Which studio did it come from?

So good to see her on BBC1 at last and with an important story, though it was probably only because she'd just finished her shift on News 24. Continuity announcer on BBC NI pronounced her name wrong though.

I know it's not really an appropriate question after a story like this, but what ident did they use? Usually it's Kites into the News at One.

None I think, just a red title screen saying news report.

Yes, news report was the word I should have used (as I did later in the post).

It was not an ident in to the news report, but just a still of the news titles saying "news report", there was an announcement saying "Doctors will be here on BBC1 in just a few moments, after a news report, with Karin Gianone". It then cut to the studio.

The studio used was the main nationals.

Had she been on News 24 earlier?
