The News Presenter Thread

"The Newsreader and Reporter Thread" which has originally been created by rts, but has been closed when the "In the News" forum was started really has to come back IMO.
At the moment when there are presenter reshuffles and interesting changes it gets mentioned in any thread available or sometimes not at all. In recent days for example we had

Helen Fospero on BBC London News
Peter Sissons on yesterday's Ten O'Clock News
Darren Jordon on tonight's Six O'Clock News

So here's a new thread covering

presenter shifts
changes of usual presenters
anything else that is interesting about news presenters

Nisha Pillai appears a lot more as the relief newscaster on The World these days, as opposed to usual regular stand-in, Brian Hanrahan.

And strangely, Brian has been used as a relief presenter this week on BBC World News, but not on The World.

Ahem.

I think the changes to the national news presenter lineup is due to the US election next week, for example Huw Edwards will be in Washington, so is probable preparing this week, hence why Peter Sissons was used last night, because he has fronted the bullitin before. Darren on the Six can be explained because George has had the whole week off, and Dermot has been covering, but Dermot normally has Fridays off, so Darren was used instead.

Last Saturday Philip Hayton was on BBC1. And Moira Stuart is now presenting the Sunday Lunchtime news on BBC1, and not just Breakfast and Frosties.

Philip and Moira returning to mainstream bulletins - sounds like a return of the old guard to me -FANTASTIC.

I'd love to see Nicholas Whitchell and Anna Ford to the SIX once more, not that there is any chance of that.

It was great to see the old Breakfast couple Darren & Sian reunited on tonight's Six, wasn't it?

Yeah, interesting though, Sian normally sits on the other side of the desk, and you can tell why because at the end of the half hour, she looked way too smal for the chair she was sitting in.

Also, does anybody have an enlarged, clear version of the pic of the BBC News presenters sitting on the sofa that was made in Jan 2003?

I've said this before, but where has Katie Derham been lately? Apaprently, she was on the 6.30 tonight on ITV1. I haven't seen her for a while before that.

She is now the main presenter on London Tonight, along with Alastair Stewart.
