On BBC World tonight they are showing videos of the fireworks and of One Direction performing at the closing ceremony, but then photos for other acts.

I just wondered what the rights are now, and how come all of a sudden they are allowed to show video of some things, but not others?

I thought the BBC national news studio (I won't say set as there wasn't really one) was great. The view was great and I especially liked the dual angles for Olympic and non-Olympic news. Apart from the first day it didn't seem too bad technically either.

A shame they're all off to Broadcasting House, they should stay in Stratford!

I agree. The backdrop of the city of London, and The Shard looked quite classy. Too London centric to be used permanently, but a refreshing change from the years old 'LNN South Bank' vista. (Yes, I know that's never been used by the Beeb, before some smart arse jumps in)

However, the BBC national news set, especially the weather balcony didn't work, especially during high winds.

Why do you think the national news set didn't work?

I thought it worked really very well. The opening day or so had poor sound and lighting. By the end both those factors had been well resolved - the colour temperature of the talent in varying degrees of daylight was spot-on by the end.

Having them in Stratford felt rather like going on holiday together - and I loved it. Every single minute of it.

Good job, all of you.

Fully agree. I loved every moment too.

Well World just can't get over the Olympics so they are actually still in the Olympic studio today. Confused

Today's the last day. Relax. They are there because I specially requested them to be there. Wink

^ I loved it all but I have this feeling World is having a real tough time letting this go and focusing on REAL news again. Hopefully this won't mean a change of direction for their future.

It felt strange having CNN as the one and only source of real international news last 2 weeks. Shocked

Although still coming from Stratford, World are using their regular brands again (Impact, for example) rather than London Live.

Lyse Doucet tweeted that the sofa was full in Stratford, so she probably wouldn't be appearing, and she didn't! I'm sure she'll be back in N8 with the real news soon. Wink

I kinda missed the old set, remember we won't get to see it for much longer, especially the busy newsroom background. Sad

Anyway, here are 2 more opening from World at the Olympic site, firs one with George Alagiah from a few days ago.

Also this, from last night/morning (0100CET), after the closing ceremony with Babita Sharma

Fireworks, as seen on BBC World

I found this interesting. I didn't realise that Lund Point was still occupied by residents.
