I think the video above shows how much better the backdrop looks when it is 'open air' without screening behind the studio.

Is BBC Tim camping in the studios for the next couple of weeks?!

RTÉ broadcast from their studio in the Olympic village this evening. It looked quite nice on the 6.1 news but the stadium was barely visible at 9 o'clock. Its very compact with an RTÉ Sport strap on the window

I'm surprised we still haven't seen Tim on World. Shocked Guess it will happen in the next few days.

Shocked With Ben Brown being on the NC all day over the last 3 days and Tim just doing evenings, I thought Tim would have made at least one appearance on World during the day. Shocked

The Olympic Stadium (lit up in blue this evening) does make a great background for tonight's Ten O'Clock News.

Was about to say the same thing.

Same goes for the side view for other 'Non-Olympic news' - reminds me of how London Tonight used to look in the 90s!

CNN's position seems very close to the Olympic stadium. Looks like they didn't bother with making a special set, just a normal presentation point. Though we'll see more of it from Friday when they will kick off a European breakfast show with Monita Rajpal and Amanda Davise presented for 2 weeks from there.

I think Sky Sports News has nailed it nicely - no stupid framing for that ugly sculpture outside.

Are you kiding? I must be imagining all those hideous dodgy white tents and storage units then Very Happy I don't like the orbit but it's a damn sight better than that water polo venue which blocks a big chunk of Sky's stadium view and thats before taking into account that Sky's main view is of a storage yard.
There is no comparison with it and the BBC's view which captures the city of London and park beautifully.

I'm not much assed about the view - as I don't think a stadium at any angle is that interesting.

But I think as a whole, Sky Sports News looks a lot better - not talking about what they backdrop is - but sound, lighting, focus...

I think the BBC news and sports studios are looking rather impressive, and when the flame is (in my prediction) burning from the top of the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower the backdrop will look great hopefully.

The flame isn't going to be from the top of The Orbit!
