I really want to know how old -

Phil Hayton, Alastair Yates, Matthew Amroliwala and Peter Dobbie are. They have those kind of faces were it is quite hard to guess their age. I'm guessing Yates could be pushing 60, Hayton mid 50s?

Well I'll tell you one thing - Peter Sissons is TOO old! Will someone please put the guy out of his misery and let him retire.

He just said (with the clock proudly displaying 18.1Cool...

"It's twenty-two minutes er to 7 O'clock and these are the headlines.... oh, we're not going to do the headlines then? We're going to look at the Live 8 concert and...who's that playing (cue Brian Wilson in Berlin)...who is it? Who's that on stage? Errr... Oh, it's the Beach Boys....I should have known that...."

Embarassing.

Yeah it is quite embarassing seeing him stumble over his words. He always seems tired.

Matthew's about 40 I think and I'd say Phils about 57. Dont know about the others.

Mathew is 42. Sissons is early 60s. Why is Sissons so poor when presenting on News24, but when he is on Maistream BBC1, on News24 Sunday for example, he is quite impressive Very Happy

Because N24 is more liable to changes in the running order due to pieces of breaking news. He is much more comfortable when he knows exactly what is coming up next and when he has an autocue.

And he does deserve the Ten more than Huw Edwards Evil or Very Mad

Sissons's bumbling style on N24 has a certain endearing quality, though

Yes Very Happy . It is actually quite pleasant to watch his bulletins, I do quite enjoy them. However, before News24Sunday was launched, he always gave the impression he was fed up of presenting, not putting much enthusiasm into his bulletins. But I think he is GREAT on Sunday morning, I am happy the BBC are giving him more exposure

He can't even tell the time. He said it was "twenty-two minutes to 7 O'clock" when it was 18.18!

He needs residential care.

But he is more human than alot of news24 presenters. Personally I'd give Matthew Armroliwali the door, as he is extremely creepy, the way he lowers his voice and looks at the camera.

Sissons, Hayton and Yates are far more authoritative than the younger generation. They should be presenting the Ten and Six between them.

Amroliwala looks like an effigy from Madame Tussauds. Many of the younger ones are too wooden and have no character...

Darren Jordon - demote to regional news
Huw Edwards - demote to the One
George Alagiah - too fake, not authoritative. Put him on World.

I'd say Tim Willcox is the best of the younger generation. Truly excellent presenter, and handles breaking news excellently.

Tim "I can do any shift, honest" Willcox? He's alright.... I do think that there are a few genuinely good presenters on N24

Matty Amroliwala
Karin Giannone

and it still bemuses me why Adrian Finighan is still on World. Why not bump him up? He's fab, as is Al Yates (God no. 2, second to Nick Harvey - Al Yates didn't sing about Polar).
