I was watching N24 earlier and they had a small graphics hiccup (a name caption came up three times in a row when it shouldn't have come up at all). But it reminded me that when N24 seems to have got far, far better recently with regards to technical mistakes. It used to be that I couldn't switch over without something going wrong, but it all seems a lot better now.
I still see them from time to time. I recorded Click Online early one morning and after watching it I continued to watch to the TOTH. The countdown ran as usual but after the titles (which were the generic backup titles) the presenter started talking and then the titles started again while the presenter continued talking, and then the sound (from the titles) faded out but the graphics continued, this time showing the headline text instead of the generic BBC News spinning around the globe. Very strange. The presenter (I think it was Deborah McKenzie) could still be heard throughout.
But still a big improvement on a year or so ago when technical problems like this seemed much more commonplace.
Well, BBC News is not beyond making mistakes - and they've made a pretty big one today, although I don't think it aired in the UK. BBC World screened an interview with a man claiming to apologise for the tragedy at Bohpal on behalf of his company - but this bloke had nothing to do with the company involved!

Very unfortunate it was on the once great BBC World!
On Fridays 10am news, the countdown had finished and all you got was a shot of ....a chair !!!
Philip Hayton could be heard, but for some reason the "Chair" stayed in shot for about a minute.
I have often seen many mistakes, recent ones, but being a live 24 hour news operation, it is expected. Live news on BBC, Sky , Cnn, Itv, mistakes are bound to happen.

That is just terrible to get fooled by some hoaxer, no excuses .
I 've searched but can't find the name of the journalist who did the interview and reported the story.
Anybody know who it was?

What a nasty person you are.
If you'd bothered to research how this happened, you'll see that the hoaxer had set up a website absolutly identical to the official one, and used a very similar domain name.
Whoever originally contacted the hoaxer was fooled just like anyone else would have been.
There are 3 days worth of emails between the producer and the hoaxer which show the producer was acting correctly. Unfortunatly it was a hoax, and they fell for it.
This could have happened to Sky, ITN, CNN, or anyone. The BBC did this story because there had been a night dedicated to the story on BBC One. I don't see ITV doing Bhopal type documentaries, AND screening it on ITV1 in primetime.
Nasty for stating what a naive piece of investigative journalism that was ? I cant comprehend a person that comes up with such a reaction. Has the demographic on this site gone below 15?
You have the cheek to say do some research , pity the BBC reporter didnt , fooled by a hoax website,!!!!!!!!!
How about ringing around and checking with Dow's press office or head office instead of 3 days of exchanging E mails. Any sort of background check would have exposed the scam.
I cant believe this would happen to an experienced reporter, I wonder who it was.
What's that? The post above is not what I've posted!
Not sure how the heck that happened, but the contents of it is a post I made in the CiTV & MoM thread. Hopefully a mod can come along with a dustpan and brush and sweep up the mess.

How sad. For you to be leading a hunt on the producer who fixed the story is mean, pathetic, unfair, etc etc etc. Don't you think they feel bad enough? Why are you so interested in who they are?
I'm always amused when a fanatic on a forum such as this resorts to belittling someone who challenges them by claim they much be a teenager.
If you're so mature, you'd ba able ti understand that this was a mistake, and you'd leave it at that. Why the pressure to get the name of the producer? Complain to the BBC if you want.
