Breaking News, a ferry carrying 1300 passengers has just sunk in the Red Sea. Story very thin at current time. BBC News 24 pop-up shown through Car Booty.

Whilst this forum oftern talks about anchors, it is about TV presentation, not shipping news.

I think this website is exactly the right place to post this. It's about television presentation isn't it?!!!

I've got to agree. I've not heard of BBC News using such alerts on other channels before, and wouldn't have known about it had tom_p not posted. I know Sky have done the same in the past, but have the BBC ever signposted viewers to News 24 in this way at a time of Breaking News? Was it used on 7th July?

Of course this topic is worthy of discussion.

I've not seen these graphics used before (still not seen them actually - any caps?), and was actually quite surprised that the BBC hadn't interupted their schedule on BBC1 or BBC2 to simulcast News 24.

The thing that always annoys me about stories like this is if it had sunk 40 miles off the coast of New York, it be blanket coverage all round!

I doubt it, any reports of an explosion in London would switch BBC One over to News 24 straight away I'd suspect.

Maybe at the next junction, but very few news stories would lead to the interruption of a programme.

Wooo! Go me!!! I was sick off school, and watching car booty and it popped up! I agree too, it was strange. Does anyone have a screen capture of it??? It was about 11.50am and stayed on for a good few seconds across all channels. The last time I remember this happening was the Buckingham Palace fire in the year 2000, i think.
