So the set design was just over a year old when the Nationals received their new titles - and the Breakfast set has been in for over a year and still no new titles. When will they get new titles, or even new graphics to match N24. If at all?

Speculate, or if BBC News insiders can give us any teasers, great!

I personally don't see why Breakfast needs to adopt similar graphics and titles to BBC News 24. It's a standalone programme, and as such can have it's own look if it wants. It's still within the BBC News brand, so I don't see why they need new titles and 24 graphics.

I personally don't see anything wrong with the current titles despite their age.

As for the on-screen graphics, Breakfast really isn't part of the running news channel and it's graphics are suited to the programme, just like Newsnight and the National News. Introducing N24/World style astons etc would just look odd and I certainly don't see the point in branding the screen with this "BBC NEWS" box like N24 as it's just not what Breakfast is about.

Edit: Lol the first three words on both our posts are exactly the same, that wasn't intentional either.

The big problem is, is that Breakfast *IS* a part of News 24 - for 3 hours every morning.

If News 24 insists on carrying Breakfast - which I am not fundamentally against - they really should go some way towards accepting Breakfast as providing a rolling news service. Albeit in a relaxed style, but even so. Adopting the News 24 graphics even if only for the N24 feed (and thus letting BBC1 carry on with the status quo) would, I'm sure, silence a lot of critics

But why? Breakfast is a standalone programme carried on BBC One and News 24. That doesn't mean it has to have graphics to fit in with what else is already used. Why can't it have it's own set? Variety is the spice of life!

I would like it to have News 24 animating straps, except in a white colour scheme, and more reliance on the two line aston then the "Big it up" strap which would be unsuitable for bleary eyed people rising early in the morning.

I say this because I no longer like the old "fade in, fade out" chunky aston still used on Breakfast and the National News.

The only reason Breakfast is on N24 is because of costcutting measures. World joins at like 1am here. Right through until 6am. Breakfast takes over at 6 til 9 essentially a new working day. Economically it makes sense. Less people will be watching Rolling News channels before 9 especially if the likes of Breakfast is on. Why run a 24 hour news channel when the news is being covered in a magazine programme.

It's a standalone programme that should remain as it is. It's part of the BBC NEWS budget.... but not part of the BBC NEWS 24 budget.

BBC WORLD is not part of either the BBC NEWS budget or the BBC NEWS 24 budget, and yet in order to maintain consistency during simulcasts, it makes sense for the two to share similar branding. 'The World' is a stand-alone programme, but which also a similar look based on the rolling news look. And as we saw from the Vote 2004 programmes, even completely disparate event programming can adopt the general presentation themes, but with a distinct look.

As Breakfast shares every morning with N24, I see absolutely no reason why it shouldn't also share N24's graphics. There is simply no logical argument against it, especially as the size of the current Breakfast aston is even bigger than those used on N24; and as we've already seen, any design can be easily applied to the N24 aston style.

To introduce this aston style would at least give some consistency in on-screen presentation.

The main reason that Breakfast and N24 can't be aired independently between 0600 and 0900 is because they share the same production area. There simply aren't enough desks for both sets of producers to operate at the same time.
The BBC is on a value for money drive at the moment. The cost of the extra office space alone, forgetting the equipment, rules out the possibility of providing separate production areas. Especially when you consider that (apparently) each waste paper bin in the newsroom requires £80 worth of office floor space per year!

Surely it's not impossible in these days of automation for the astons to come up in a different style on each channel if they wanted to.

Exactly - they've proven during the Vote 2004 simulcasts that they can and will do exactly this...when it suits them.

I liked it when they took World during breakfast time.
