But this even isn't a virtual set at all, it's a genuine wall with a large screen.
Looks a bit too virtual for my liking. A good virtual set should look real - this doesn't.

Some elements are nice. Getting a spaceship vibe. Which personally I dont like very much. Could be the shape of the desks. I do like the flooring though. Having said that I've never been a fan of Tagesshau.

I was going to say that it could easily be real with that the backdrop being a screen or panels.
I wonder if BBC News might look something like that now, if they'd continued to develop the look of 90s rather than starting afresh.

Finally! Looks stunning. Amazing attention to detail on the desks, even the most polished news studios are a hobbled together mess behind the scenes. Should free them completely from restrictive camera angles.
I suspect it will really impress on air, I doubt the 2 year delay and multi-million dollar budget is simply for some sturdy desks and a big screen. From what I can garner they've melded VR studio technology with the physical screen, which is sure to produce some interesting pres.

It's also been confirmed today that the voiceover introducing Tagesschau will be female, for the first time.
It's not true. The first Tagesschau voiceover was Dagmar Benkoff, to 2000.

I guess with robotic motion control cameras they have pretty good motion-tracking data built in - and can deploy AR (Augmented Reality - aka. virtual foregrounds) in a similar manner to BBC Sport do in Salford and at Wimbledon albeit with more complex models.
Though Tagesschau has traditionally been very conservative in presentation terms - so it will be interesting to see how "Day Today" they go...
