New studio for Germany's Tagesschau news

On saturday, tagesschau’s (Germany’s oldest and most watched news programme) new studio will finally go on air.

Thought it was ZDF with a new colour scheme, I must say it's very nice.

This will be a significant change for Tagesschau, this is a much bigger studio and set than they've ever used, and no seating either for the anchors. I'm betting that one side is for Tagesschau, and the other is for Tagesthemen and Nachtmagazin.

I didn't expect this to become true, the actual launch date was scheduled for 26 DEC 2012!

Quite a departure for a programme that famously resisted such modern television tools such as AutoCue for so many years! I'm assuming they'll keep their theme tune in some form (otherwise expect riots, as it's been unchanged since the Magna Carta).

This would have been a wonderful opportunity to expand Tagesschau to at least 25 minutes. Fifteen minutes, including sports and the weather forecast, is awfully short for a flagship newscast. In France, TF1 and France 2 also air their evening news at 8 P.M., but their newscasts are 30 and 40 minutes in length respectively (not even counting the weather forecasts).

That's some set! Not sure about the lack of chairs though. Very nice.



There's some things that just don't change - one is that ARD at 8:00pm CET will play it's "bong", "Hier ist das erstes Deutsches Fernsehen mit dem Taggeschau", and that theme music. Though it's been rearranged quite a few times.

The lead-in : " Hier ist das erste deutsche Fernsehen, mit der Tagesschau " , was in the past often spoken by several presenters, since quite a time (I think 2001) it's presented by Jan Hofer, maybe this changes as well and we now have a new voice?

The feel of the desk, with those elegant drawers and that white-blue color scheme, reminds me of something one may see, say, in a high-end design hotel or even on a trendy Apple device.
