The new rotas see shifts cut back from 12 hours to between eight and 10 hours, although total working hours will not be reduced

Why are they striking over this? I'd prefer 8 hours in work to 12 hours, so long as my pay isn't effected!

No, technical glitches continue as normal on News 24.

Probably because "the total working hours are not effected" but they're working less hours, so they're saying, you have to work weekends etc, or and extra day, but you'll get nothing extra (pay) for doing so.

Would you rather work 3 or 4 days a week and have 3 or 4 days off, or 5 days a week and have just 2 days off?

If you have worked 3 or 4 days a week for a very long time, and chosen your job specifically so that you work fewer days, to allow you to do other things with your time, such as share child care duties etc. - it IS a significant change to the way you are required to work.

There HAVE been technical glitches - but don't seem to have been that many more than usual.

HOWEVER - there have been far fewer lives from satellite trucks today as far as I've seen - with lives much more concentrated around Westminster - as one would expect for the State Opening. There was a live from Leeds as part of the state opening, but this may well have been arranged from the non-news communications area, as the state opening is a BBC Events production rather than BBC News (or can be seen that way if need be)

Well, they've had a couple of hours of uninterrupted House of Commons coverage now....
