If i remember rightly Barney with the transition into a new set which was done last time over xmas 2002, they used a CSO in the main studio ehilst work was ongoing - but perheps they feel the newsroom is more realistic and will be enjoyed more by the viewres. Or perhaps they're simply copying RS by having all bulletins done in the newsroom - i hope not though
Apparently new look on Wednesday. The set is getting a bit of a revamp but nothing too major. I'm sure they'll be saving up for a big change when they move to pacific quay in the summer.
Not sure, but if they're doing up their set and they got new captions earlier this year, I imagine they would do something to freshen up the music and titles which are three years old now.

it is about time they got a new set - ppart new itv corporate look perhaps????/
Fingers crossed. I really hope that you are correct with your predictions. I also wonder whether or not North Tonight will be relaunched. When they moved to Tullos they had a mini revamp. That was June 30 2003 - if my memory serves me right. Although, NT and ST did revamp TOGETHER - when the saltire and thistle was ditched.
I know I am in the minority but I preferred Scotland Today in 2000-2003. The desk and title sequence was great. The straps were much better. This Beeb imitation makes you wonder if Scotland Today is a BBC show.
I just hope it'll be the final nudge to push the bosses at QMD to think about a revamp!! Rep. Scot. is long overdue one. It may be that they'll wait til moving to Pacific Quay in 2007, but if ratings plummet with a SMG revamp - it may be back to the drawing board. Yet, I do admit that it is not just the image that needs a few sticks of dynamite.

[/quote] I have to agree it was one of there best periods and ws very modern but it was very millennium and of its time to a degree but perhaps one of their best studios ever.

Next week should be interesting!!
I loved the warmer set look. The music was much better aswell than the current one.
So, I know we are all entitled to our own opinions and tastes etc…that’s what makes forums like this work.
But why would we want ST to go down the road of regional ITV branding or stylising? The ITV brand is a joke – They raped the strong local identity of all the English and Welsh regions. Renamed On-Digital to ITV digital and made a total mess of that – impacting a lot of English Football clubs financially. Re-branded ITN news channel and made no real commitment to it, resulting in it closing it down. Everything ITV touch ends in disaster.
Don’t get me wrong; SMG could do much, much better. But for the moment they are not ITV. I hope they never become ITV. I hope ITV either sells up to Endemol, Time Warner or whoever sooner rather than later.

There, rant over.
I would not want full corporate branding - would be a waste...part branding would be good though - a bit of integration never hurt anyone.

Would you not want ST to have it's own branding that stated what the prog was about, who it was aimed at. Showing it's part of a culture that is unique as it's viewers...no hang on,you are right - SMG are incapable of providing anything that does not look or sound cheap!!! I still cringe at their RGB spinning discs from the 90's - yuk!
