Someone at five news should be buying lots of lottery tickets. They came on air in time for the Pope to be announced and then came back from an ad break just in time to hear the first words spoken by the new Pope. They also have a pre-prepared package by Colin Brazier.

Shouldn't BBC1 and ITV break the news? I can understand BBC1 not covering it as its already on BBC2 but ITV have no excuses ...

North East Tonight (ITV1) on air and it's just like a normal programme, not a single mention of the new Pope.

Well done BBC. The coverage is excellent. The Six o'clock news on BBC 1 and News 24 on BBC 2 at the same time.
