The window bit looks nice but the rest looks quite poor. They’ve made the best of what they’ve been given though.

I'm impressed that they've managed to make the red sofa look Newsnighty with lighting, at least in the wide with nobody sitting on it.
The low lighting grid is unfortunate, but it looks so much better than the likes of Salford with similar compromises.

I think it looks really good. Nice little flexible space. It's basically a mini studio B. Better than the Breakfast set/studio by a country mile.

Look at it, then look at the set for a flagship news programme in pretty much any other European country, and this looks poor. We’ve been conditioned in this country to think that mediocre is good.

Its not ground breaking, but does it need to be for Newsnight? To most viewers it isn't going to look all that different to studio B.
And before you say anything, I do agree about studios etc and its sad about studio B for us pres-geeks, and probably for some internal staff too. I also think BBC News is getting in dire need of a refresh as a whole, especially the titles and music - but it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. A return of the branded daytime slots (Newsroom Live/Afternoon Live) wouldn't go a miss either.

Yep, could've been worse. They could've shipped the show up to Salford and plonked it in the Breakfast/NWT studio.
I quite like it. Given that Studio B has been mothballed, I think it's a decent replacement.
