It's bizarre that they haven't covered up the old logo on the opening sequence as well. The new logo does look very out-of-place, doesn't it? It's those stark, bland colours that really makes it look just so damned ugly.

>> Fred looks happy with the new set Laughing

New studio in action for the SE edition. Phil Hornby is now permanent presenter and as a welcome, a montage of clips from Phil's past 20 years was shown! Even from the Coast to Coast/TVS days. Great stuff! No introduction to the new studio though. Rolling Eyes

Don't you be rude about poor Debbie Throwup, Mr Prout!

What I'm surprised about is that Fred's sitting on an "ordinary" sofa. I think he's always had his special back-supporting chair hidden behind the desk in the past.

As for the sofa - is it me or does it look a bit snug - with the presenters a bit close to the edges - something doesn't look quite right. It all looks a bit small compared to the London Tonight version.

I know what you mean, but it might just be the difference in camera angles. The 'guest' benches certainly look a bit shorter than the London ones. Here's a comparison:

And no one has mentioned the awful 'halo' glow around Martin on the CSO weather map yesterday.
Time to nudge the lights around in time for tonights forecast, me thinks..

Why no webcam view of Southampton/Maidstone/Newbury on the back plasma? Crying or Very sad

Unless they occasionally use the back plasma to illustrate stories (as CNwest do), then it might as well not be there! Rolling Eyes

As CNwest have a "window", I had thought it was reasonable to assume that when CNeast moves to Brum, they'll have a webcam on the roof of the Nottingham newsgathering centre. Now I'm not so sure... Confused

To be fair, the three Meridian regions are less focussed on a single urban centre than London Tonight or Central West, so a camera backdrop is maybe less appropriate.

Though I suppose that never stopped South Today using a view of Southampton.

Why are they using a b*stardised ITV logo, rather than writing things as per the title sequence/ DOG etc? Confused
