Looking at that map, Winchester looks like the last local authority that you'd expect Whiteley (conveniently circled in hot pink) to be a part of. You can also draw your own conclusions with regards to Whiteley's proximity to Hedge End (also conveniently circled).
And I hadn't realised that Whiteley is so close to Southampton.

Just to be pedantic... Whiteley is technically in Winchester. That's who's local authority they come under. They're no where near Hedge End. It's two junctions up the motorway and takes about 8 minutes at 70mph.

Where abouts are the old studios on that map please? Fred said that they were moving half a mile up the road...

Looking at the map "Northam" - where the Southern/TVS/Meridian studios (i.e. the decent sized ones rather than the poorly lit, cramped broom cupboards at Whiteley) - is just above the last "O" in Southampton.
(Though the text on the map is quite difficult to read I think it says Northam)

Yes, I've had a look on my uncompressed copy and it does indeed say Northam.

Being new to the Forum, I have read with great interest the comments about the new format with Meridian.
Someone mentioned that it would be nice to get pictures of the old Larkfield studios... and I have.
The set has been dismantled and the whole unit is like a ghost town.
Should anyone want some pictures please reply. I being a bit of a steptoe, have a section of the old 1993 MT set (desk) on wheels in my house as we speak, (the one with the blue house lights), at a time when Meridian Tnght/News had a homely feel. Mike Debens once said to me that it was like broadcasting from a jar of marmalade. New set looks good though. Have seen plans of the new studios at Whiteley, and each regional studio is side on side. Totally different set up. Meridian will never be the same again. Another thing did anyone see the SE edition of Meridian News Trailer with Charlotte Hawkins. Bit of a muck up and not over complimentary to Ms Hawkins. They showed some rushes from a story regarding foxes, which abruptly paused and suddenly whoever ran the Capgen accidentally imposed a caption saying CHARLOTTE HAWKINS across the picture of the fox. Regional News wouldnt be regional news without the odd giggle!!!

HTV's studios at Culverhouse Cross aren't in Cardiff, but they get away with saying that's where they are.
