What really annoys me is that when Meridian Report on a story they focus on one part of te region even though it has happenned in the rest of the region. For example on the SE edition this evening all I heard about the bad weather was about Kent. As a viewer in Sussex it is so annoying hearing about a region wide story and just hearing about one county.

Don't you think South East Today's Nicola Haysler looks a bit like Amanda Holden?

There was a report tonight about how press attention hit a court in Brighton all because Katie Price (aka Jordan) got a speeding fine and in the end she never turned up anyway.

THAT is NOT newsworthy despite Ian and Sangeeta trying to say its major considering January is usually a slow news month.

As for South East Today.. I'm sick and tired of pretty much every survey, news item and live reports coming from Tunbridge Wells! Fair enough the studios are based there but come on.. it's not the only town in the South East you know! Mad

Whenever there is a story on train travel the reporter walks (I hope) the 27 metres from the South East Today studio to Tunbridge Wells Railway Station.

What's ironic is that when the London Bombings took place, SET were one of the first on the scene.

I guess they need to expand their horizons not just for breaking news stories.

The new presenters for this region will be Fred Dinenage and Sangeeta Bhabra.

For crying out loud. Well that's just typical "bigwigs" making rash decisions with no thought to anything else.

It's simply a case of "Sangeeta ticks the boxes" despite being a most dreadful presenter (she'd be better suited to a job on QVC - not news) and Fred because he's well known right across the region.
Its a typical scenario, ITV once had a great product (indeed it's strength has ALWAYS been it's regions) now it's kicked everything to the side-line and ruined everything. Sadly the shareholders come FIRST and the viewer comes LAST.
Meridian want to turn the programme into a more 'feature' led show, so don't tune in if you're after hard news from the region - you simply won't get it!

As for the reporters, I've heard they've got rid of most of the heavyweights in favour of 'young girlies' more worried about make-up than bringing you the hard stories.
Meridian is just one region, others are facing a similar GRIM future - this is all just a short term alteration - give it another few years and the regional service will be wiped away completely.
