I can't imagine that it would take that long to put a new set in such a small studio. If they had just moved the set into the newsroom during the refurbishment then they would have kept the same background picture......which did look quite different to me - alot darker and different images, unless I am very much mistaken.

I think that's the only change we are going to see! Confused Confused Confused

(It's a shame they had to keep the fake leather PVC "sofa" Twisted Evil Twisted Evil )

It is the same backdrop that used to be in the main studio, only the temporary lighting arrangement is making it look different.

If the set being installed is simply the standard ITV regional set, then I would have expected it to have been installed by now. However, there are all sorts of problems that may have cropped up during install, which may be causing unexpected delays. We'll just have to wait and see.

Didn't ITV West News decamp to a temporary studio for a week whilst their new set was built?

Also they may be getting a technical upgrade as well as the new set.

Theres a clip on TV Ark when Central News were at the reception, looking rather cramped. AIUI they had to be out of the Studio whilst a wall was built to accomdate Central News East.

Well, they've just announced the change of image at the end of tonight's programme, and shown some tempting (and deliberatly blurred) shots of the new set.

Lot's of blue (no yellow from what I can see) and with a background picture of what looks like the Tamar Bridge - 2 plasma screens - one on either side of the semi-circular seating area.

I can't caputure the images from the TV directly to the PC, but I recorded the programme on Sky+ , so I will see if I can get a decent pic on the digital cam from the TV. Smile

EDIT:

I did say they were very blurred images when broadcast - so this is as clear as I could get them Shocked Shocked

this page has all info on relaunch. What will happen to the mini cso sets used for giving people local news?

NEW LOOK TO WESTCOUNTRY LIVE

ITV Westcountry’s flagship early evening news programme WESTCOUNTRY LIVE will unveil a new look to its Plymouth studio this Monday 10th October.

The design is part of an overall revamp of ITV’s regional news studios across the network. A central focus of the new set is a 3 x 2 metre screen which will feature a striking shot of a regional landmark - the Tamar Bridge and Royal Albert Bridge linking Devon and Cornwall.

The studio has also been fitted with a new lighting design which uses the very latest in LED technology. ITV Westcountry is the first region in the ITV network to use such lighting, which gives greater flexibility in television production and excellent energy efficiency.

To coincide with the news relaunch, ITV Westcountry has filmed a series of onscreen promotions and commissioned Kingsbridge-based photographer Lorna Yabsley to take a new set of photographs of Richard and Alexis. The shoot took the popular presenters to a number of Westcountry locations, including a windswept Hounds Tor on Dartmoor at 7.00 in the morning.

Controller of News Phil Carrodus said, “I think viewers will be delighted by the new look. It’s been created by one of the country’s top television designers, and demonstrates ITV’s commitment to providing a first class regional news service.”

the lighting does look a bit different in those caps. little if no yellow. and there are relitively few if any frosted stripes.
