Ugh, again I fully agree with what was said, and the term "colonial oppressor", and yet I can fully imagine that people who don't will see it as being another example of opinionated language. It's undoubtedly a term coined and used by the left.

Newsnight have just described the UK as a 'colonial oppressor'. That's quite a political statement. Is Esme Wren trying to get the programme cancelled?

Is the notion that the British Empire was a colonial oppressor really controversial? I would argue that it is a statement of historical fact. Unless of course they were referring to modern-day UK, in which case, you're right, the statement should not have been made.

All colonialism is oppression. The purpose of colonialism is extraction, for example wealth or territory, and that is incompatible with liberation. For those reasons, the eradication of colonialism is one of the core, original missions of the UN.

That's a little extraordinary considering all the Glastonbury stuff is rehashed old material, I presume that the editing is such that it'll be continuous. It's going to cause a little bit of consternation nevertheless.

I assume from Scotland then as a 4 minute turnaround in E to Newsnight colours, curtain, newsroom colours, interview time’s and rehearsal won’t exactly be easy.

I'd assume from Glasgow but if not surely they could clear E from 6.30-7 and relocate just as they do with The Papers now.

No easy way to clear E between 6:30-7 as world needs C and London D for programmes that aren't appropriate for NC broadcast (and which cannot be cut) .

Although an extended Sportsday would do the job I suppose, or they could shift onto the weather balcony. Probably not an issue anyway as almost certain to be in Glasgow I'd have thought.

If it is coming from Glasgow will they the gallery for studio A for Newsnight?

It’s a set of controls for the earpiece feed. Presenters can choose to switch between open and switched talkback and can control the relative levels of talkback and mixes from the sound desk.
Stuart and Alfie Mulcahy gave kudos
