Just watched the opening of tonight's Newsnight on Freeview. I noticed that the opening of the show included Gordon Brewer in the Newsnight Scotland studio previewing tonight's story. Haven't seen this before. I'm guessing this is because of tonight's lead story about Scotland and devolution?
Can't say this new look has impressed me that much at all. Emily Matlis seems a bit too light-weight, but I'm prepared to give that time. I hope Garth Crooks isn't a regular feature, he's rubbish, but that goes for sport in general on newsnight, just doesn't feel right. A bit too much reliance on those large screens - e.g the michael crick advert which could have easily been done full screen avoiding the presenter looking like a lemon. Also don't like these fluffy ends all the time - once a week is ok, but the fact they didn't look at all the papers tonight to waffle on about a crap football song isn't good.
Is there actually a version of the closing music which matches the opening titles, because I don't think I've heard it if it exists. Every time I've seen the close since the relaunch they've played out a wierd version of it, or done something random like tonight.

They've played the matching closing titles a few times.
