They're in the new studio for the late bulletin. Usually the morning and late bulletins come from the CSO set. It doesn't look very good, because the presenter is just sitting in front of the blue panel, not the projector screen.
It looked better in daylight on the lunchtime bulletin, but yes, it would look better without the blue tint.
From the email I got, Karina Reed said they would show different parts of the region behind the presenters. Maybe they changed their minds at the last minute because that view behind them is just the city walls looking down the main high street.
Looks OK, I guess, well it looks the same dosen't it, generic.
It is slightly different to the generic set we have in the Westcountry. I don't think any of the others have that odd lighting effect around the plasma screens.
EDIT: Just realised the new Anglia set has the same.
It does look a lot better. It's not the best view of Carlisle, but at least its a looped video and looks like its real. I had to laugh today when a big Matalan lorry drove by behind the presenter.
It does look good at 6pm though, the city walls have been lit up in blue. Not sure if it's Border that have added the blue, or if there are actually blue lights there.
I notice Border now have their reporters signing off at the end of reports. This has never been done before. It was just ' *Reporters name*, ITV Border News '. I wonder if they will sign off Lookaround using the same, or if they will use the Lookaround name instead. It sounds strange if you sign off ' *Reporters name*, Lookaround '.
