I think this new look for ITN would have worked well alongside 5 News in their "Rainbow house" era...

Mind you, that was horrible too.

I presume there's still a blue version to come. I wonder if the red is reserved for Channel 4 News or if there's a red version as well.

It would be nice if say 20% of the licence fee was paid to ITV / ITN. I don't see how on earth ITV expects to compete with the BBC when the Beeb get's £3.4bn and ITV £1.2bn per year.

I personally believe the licence fee is necessary, but the proceeds shouldn't be exclusive to the BBC. Other broadcasters deserve a slice of the cash, too.

ITN used to be just as, if not more respected than the BBC. It all went wrong due to years of massive cost cuts. Crying or Very sad

Um, do you even know what you're talking about?

If you're talking about comparing NEWS budgets, remember that the BBC produces news across 5 radio networks, 1 dedicated TV channel, standalone 30min news for BBC1 several times a day and several more in depth programmes for BBC2.

Get a grip. Your non-news budget argument doesn't belong here in this thread and doesn't belong on a TV presentation forum. Go to S*dding Points of View, perhaps you could be one of those narked voices on the phone?

Sorry BBC employee/obsessive/anorak*

I was loosely tying my comment into the thread, thanks.

To Gray's Inn Road for the ITN party to celebrate the corporate rebranding of the news organisation. After all, there's nothing like a good party to lift the spirits and this was nothing like a good party. Staff were given goody bags containing jelly beans and a pen and there was much bemusement at the snazzy new logo that will adorn ITN news programmes from this day forward. Wags have already appropriated the new slogan - "Right content, right now" - and offered several considerably less professional versions: "Trolley here, right now" and "Right c.ock-up, right now" are early favourites, apparently.

Since when was it acceptable for production companies to use their Production Captions as advertising banners?

I'm sure that every production company that displays "An X Production for Y" caption at the end of a programme has a corporate slogan, but I'm sure if Endemol, Celador, ITV Productions etc. tried to hijack what should be a pure and simple production credit into a 3 second advertisement for their organisation (as opposed to the programme just shown), then that production company would be told to remove it.

Why would ITN be exempt from this? Can we now expect a flood of lame corporate mission statements flashing around on the screen at the end of every show? Perhaps BBC shows will now end with

|B|B|C|

Watched by you.
Funded by you.
Or not - as the case may be.

(c) BBC MMVI.

This is a very valid point

"Right content, Right now" isn't anything to do with ITV News, or Channel 4 News, it's just an advert for ITN's other services. It is supposed to be a production caption not an advert

I was wondering that too - can't think of any other endcaps that have slogans on.

As usual with these rebrands, some of the names are very dodgy - ITN Archive is a far better name than ITN Source IMO, and what on earth is ITN ON all about!

One thing I think which is very obvious though from this rebrand is that it's not designed for TV at all - it's more about mobile and web content.

I'll think about it Mark, you do have to be very annoying though.

I saw it today after the lunchtime news, and it's HIDEOUS on screen. My god I don't think I've ever seen anything as utterly foul as that.

urgh urgh urgh. no.

The integrated newsroom-studio of ITN's 5 News Centre was completely outstanding and really cool, and it really showed the sheer quality and innovation of ITN news shows as a whole.

Right Content, Right Now?

Surely that must win the lamest slogan of the year award. Talking about 'content' is very much in the realms of industry jargon, and will mean sod all to the viewing public.

I agree that 'content' is probably industry jargon and it may well be a lame slogan, but thinking about it, how could it be mis interpreted by the viewing public?

Industry jargon it maybe, but what other word or snappy phrase could they use?

'Right pictures, sound, text or data... RIght Now' doesn't have the same ring really
