I think many people are forgetting the short-lived version of the ITN logo that was used c. 1992-1994 which had a white/grey bevelled edge and was shown 'suspended' over a white/grey background. The 'counters' (the space within the letter outlines) were made opaque blue. The letters were also made fatter like how this latest 'redesign' has done. However sometime in around Oct '94 they reverted to the more classic logotype, simplifying it back, even more than before, by removing all colour (inner and outer) and using pure white on a pure blue background, which they continued to use, up until yesterday.

Oh yes, and my opinion??? Yeeeuucch. (Is there a 'vomiting' emoticon? No? Shame.)

You've beat me to it there, this new logo does remind me of the logo of that era, which looked rather dated at the time IMO, it looked better when they went back to the old style, albeit by 1995 it was white on blue, rather than a mix of blue and yellow which had been around since the 1970's, though correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd have thought that ITN would keep the normal logo for sometime to come, due to the fact it's instantly recognisable, it has been the same for over 10 Years now, and the fact it got tweaked slightly this year when ITV News revamped, though this also spread onto the ITN endcap on Channel 4.

I don't see what was wrong with the old logo, I also don't see what was wrong with re-using the the Lambie-Nairn packaged that was designed for the old ITN News Channel in 2000, simple yet effective.

I've just seen it in action at the end of the ITV News at 10.30, this time in pink rather than green, and in my opinion it looks awful

It's too big a change in one go, from one of the most traditional logos in British TV to an ultra-modern alternative logo, it just doesn't seem right

Plus are wild colours and movement really suitable for the end of the news

why is it pink though? ITN On is pink ITN News is blue.

not keen tbh, the logo is too big in the pictures and the colours on white doesn't work. maybe the other way round would have worked.

It's all too trendy for a news organisation.

Since we're having a nostalgic look back - you can't beat simplicity.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when there is a news report

Usually you'd get a static ITV News Report slide at the start, the bulletin, and then a static ITN Production slide fade up at the end

That pink thing wouldn't exactly go well with breaking news!

That one is still used internally, they've made the rubbish one for the public!
